''Y/n, I don't think this is right.'' Ila pleads, her voice shaking a little, eyes filled with concern.

I simply roll my eyes in response. My twin can be so cowardly sometimes. She needs to live a little. Otherwise, this is such a perfect opportunity to have fun. Our parents are out of town, Dad's car is in the garage; it's literally a sign. ''Ila, shush! Don't be a bore now.''

She lets out a heavy sigh, sinking back into the seat. I can see the panic flickering in her eyes, but it doesn't faze me in the slightest. This moment- this exhilarating taste of freedom- is something I've been craving for so long. Now that it's finally here, I'll be damned if I let my goody-two-shoes sister spoil it for me.

''Y/n, I think Ila is right.'' A third voice from the back calls out. Holding the steering wheel, I turn to see her face.

Kim Suah.

Taehyung's baby sister. And the only Kim family member who's worth swooning for, in my humble opinion.

Suah lives with her maternal aunt. When we left our childhood town, where Taehyung still lives, I had no idea we'd end up moving to the same city where Suah resides. As fate would have it, she now lives just a few blocks away from our new home.

I've never been quite sure why she doesn't live with her father and brother, and I'm not about to pry either. If there's something I need to know, Suah will tell me when she's ready.  Although, she does talk and ask about her brother here and there but will refuse to mention anything related to her father.

Despite what I assumed, Taehyung also dotes on his little sister, calling her every day to check in. He sometimes even sends her a car to pick her up, so she can visit him. Yet, for reasons unknown, he never sets foot in this city. It's as if there's an invisible line he won't cross, no matter how close he is to Suah.

Suah has a lot of nervous energy. She's a year younger than me and is more introverted than a rock tucked away under a bush. Whenever she's with me, she's always lurking in my shadow, using me as her personal shield. So naturally over time, I have developed a sense of protectiveness over her. As long as she's under my watch, no one will dare to touch her.

So, wherever I go, I make it a point to bring her along. Only hope is that being out and about will help her break out of her shy shell or, at the very least, offer a distraction from the constant turmoil of her complicated family issues. I want her to experience more than just the shadows of her own worries.

''Su, I know what I am doing.''

"No, you don't!" Her voice, sharp with panic, pierces the air, startling both me and Ila.

Suah never raises her voice. I turn fully to face her, all traces of my playful attitude vanishing. "Su, is something wrong?"

That's when I notice it; Suah's hand trembling, a sheen of sweat on her forehead, and her eyes darting around, avoiding mine. "Su? What's going on?" I ask again, my concern deepening.

She doesn't respond, but abruptly shakes her head and exits the car.

"What just happened?" Ila asks, confusion evident in her voice.

I shrug, feeling a knot tighten in my stomach.

Maybe I should have let Ila go too. Maybe I should have stepped out of the car myself.

Maybe I shouldn't have asked either of them to come with me.

Maybe...

If only, then—
