"So, how long does this take, Mario?" Waluigi asked.

"Hmm," Mario hummed, placing his index finger and thumb beneath his round chin. "I can't remember Waluigi, but it wasn't quick, that's for sure," he responded with uncertainty.

Waluigi sighed; he was stuck with two people who he had never always got on with. In fact, he had barely spoken to Super Mario himself since he nearly bashed his brains in while freeing him from the very curse they were on the way to destroy once and for all.

"So, Mario," Waluigi continued as the trio sat in the quiet and serene garden, home to very few interruptions and a gentle slope that was perfect to lie down on. "Are, you feeling ok after what happened.

Mario smiled. "I'm a ok, Waluigi. Because of your spell, I feel super! Plus, it is great to be back with Peach." He noticed the lack of strength in Waluigi's smile before adding, "Don't worry, we will save Rosalina. Say, how did you two become a thing anyway?" He gave a cheeky wink to Waluigi as Luigi giggled as quietly as he could. Which was not quiet at all, to say the least.

Waluigi's smile grew stronger, as he began his tale of how he met the love of his life. "So, you remember that race in Peach Gardens?" he asked, resulting in the pair nodding in eagerness. "Anyway," he carried on, "You all saw how she was literally the only one to congratulate me on finishing second. Well, she began talking to me, despite all of the warnings you all gave her of me being as rotten as a month old banana, she continued to talk to me, eventually breaking down my stubbornness. We even had dancing sessions, after i agreed to go to your wedding Mario."

Guilt smeared all over Mario and Luigi's faces. They truly didn't realise how Waluigi was presented as a fool in front of everyone.

"We are so sorry Waluigi," Luigi said remorsefully. "We just thought that because you were with Wario all the time, you shared the same personality. Still, we treated you too harshly."

"We are all glad Rosie found you when you were lost," Mario added, before the three all shared a hug. They needed this before they had to perform the most important missionn of thier lives, even outscaling all of Mario's previous adventures.

"Thanks guys," Waluigi smiled, positivity dripping from his tear ducts. "I think we best rest up now though."

"Ma'am, we have confirmation that the Comet Observatory is on its way here," Klump informed Rosalina.

"No need for concern," she grinned in response. If Klump had any free will over his emotions, he would have cowered in fright at the sight of her face. "The machine will be ready as long as you hold them off." She now bowed down, staring directly in to Klump's passionless eyes. "Can I trust you with holding them off?"

"Yes ma'am," Klump replied.

"Good, now go. Prepare the defences," she ordered as she turned around to witness the object that would be ready to conquer the universe in a matter of hours near its completion, while thousands of her slaves toiled under the conditions yet never felt the will to speak up about it.

Polari entered the garden to discover that the plumbers were fast asleep. He couldn't blame them really; the calm and soothing environment almost made him want to sleep as well. Nevertheless, he was aware of the task at hand, and he couldn't afford for them to risk slacking on the job.

"Guys!" he yelled, "It's time to wake up!"

The three plumbers jolted to their feet upon their slumber being shattered into smithereens by this elderly luma. "What is it?" Luigi enquired.

"We are getting close, so we need to discuss a plan," Polari told the trio. "luckily, I have an idea formulated inside my head."

"You are 90 percent head to be fair," Waluigi joked, getting a couple of mischevious giggles.

"Now is not the time for jokes. How old are you, 5?" Polari retorted.

"Sorry," Waluigi replied sheepishly.

"Anyway, I suggest Mario and Luigi battle the army- its only Bowser's minions so you should be fine."

"Remember we where beaten by Hammer Bros?" Luigi reminded the luma as they began to exit the garden.

"You were caught off guard," the black luma insisted. "Besides, Rosalina, or whatever has devoured her mind, is probably going to use the army to delay our progress in oder to give her time to finish the thing she is constructing. Waluigi can be launched into the lair from here with no issues, at least I think so anyway, which is why I need you two to guarantee that the army goes nowhere near him. Is that clear to ALL of you?"

"Yes, sir," the trio responded as if they were schoolboys being talked to by a teacher. As soon as they replied, the Comet Observatory began to slow down, signalling that the time was near.

"Ok!" Polari bellowed amidst the whirring noises of chaos from outside the bubble of joy and hope, "Waluigi, get to the launch star now!" he commanded. "It should take you far enough, don't worry. Mario, Luigi, follow me!"

Waluigi wasted no time in allowing himself to be spat out of the Comet Observatory. As he flew ove Bowser's Castle and all of its nastiness, he grew more confident and determined to be the hero he had always wanted to be. Ever since he was a small boy he had wanted to be a hero, to be loved, yet it took him until now, at the age of 22 to even be recognised by somebody. That somebody, aged a few centuries but retaining the youthfulness of a 22 year old, was waiting to be rescued by him.

He looked to his left and right to see the swarms of koopas, goombas and lakitus emerge from the stomach of the castle, preparing to meet their demise at the hands of the green and red lasers that were hurtling towards them with trmendous might.

"Don't worry Rosie, Waluigi is here."
