One Month Later...

I wake up in Peeta's arms, like always. This morning he's awake before me.

"Good morning." I say lifting my head from his chest to look at him.

"Good morning, baby." He responds. 'Baby'... hm. He's never called me that before.

"Baby? Has our relationship upgraded to cheesy nicknames now?" I ask teasing him.

"Well, if you don't like it," He teases me back.

"No, no." I say with a giggle, "I love it."

He smiles at me just before planting a soft kiss on my lips. Today will be a good day, I can tell from the kiss alone, because I can feel the smile on his lips as he kisses me.

"What do you want to do today?" I ask.

"I was thinking about going to the meadow today." He answers.

"Okay." I say with a smile. "Let's go." I say leaping out of bed.

"You don't want breakfast first?" He yells after me.

"Come on!" I yell from the doorway.

"At least put some comfortable clothes on!"

"Peeta, come on! I'm not gonna wait for you any longer!" I yell back.

He does as told and we walk to the meadow together.

"I'll race you." He challenges me.

"Oh, you think you'll win?" I ask.

"Yea, let's go." but before he can finish his sentence, I bolt towards the meadow. I make it there before him, as I had expected, and when he finally reaches me, he doesn't slow down. Instead, he wraps his arms around my waist from behind and spins me around in a circle. After a couple seconds he puts me down, but he doesn't let go. He kisses the back of my neck softly, whispering 'I love you' into my ear. I love it when he kisses me on the lips, but there's something even more adorable about him when he kisses my skin. I reach my arm above my shoulder and hold his face in my hand as I whisper 'I love you too'. He sits down underneath the willow tree we usually sit at, and I lay down in his lap. He plays with my hair, eventually I tell him how to braid it even though he fails. Beside him, he finds some daisies and picks them.

"For you." He says the same way he did when he gave me the pearl, and I accept it, except this time I know it's not the last time he'll gift me anything. After he finally figures out how to braid my hair, he places the daisies in the braid.

"Let's climb this tree and watch the sunset from up there." I suggest. Peeta agrees and carefully places his hands and feet exactly where I do. We sit in the tree together and watch the sunset, I sing a little, and before we know it, it's dark.

"We should probably start heading home, unless we want to freeze out here." Peeta suggests. I agree and carefully make my way down. Peeta attempts to do the same, but it's too dark for him to see what I'm doing, so he falls. Thankfully, it wasn't a long way down, but he has a good cut sliced into his forehead.

"Let's get you home so we can clean this up." We walk home quickly as it begins to rain. When we get home I send him upstairs to our room as I get the stuff to clean his wound. I walk into our room and see Peeta sitting upright on our bed.

"I need to clean it first, so I'm warning you that this might sting a little." He doesn't seem to mind, so I carefully place the wash cloth on the wound and he tenses up. "Sorry." I say.
