Alhaitham felt a hit of shock and fondness overcome him, his action of closing the door became paused as he looked Kaveh in the face.

If he was being honest, he missed Kaveh too. The only thing that highlighted his dull, study encased school days, was Kaveh. He was a yellow highlighter within a crowd full of black pen, Alhaitham couldn't stop himself from answering:

"I've missed you too."

The car door was shut, Alhaitham starting the engine with a clueless Collei in the back, who piped up immediately, "You and Mr. Kaveh are friends?"

"We went to school together," Alhaitham answered her, his hand coming onto the backrest of the passenger seat as he looked behind him to reverse out of the parking lot, "Is he a nice teacher?"

Collei nodded, "Mr. Kaveh is the best." She watched the buildings go past the window, "I have so many friends."

Alhaitham hummed, driving towards their neighborhood, "I can tell, what are their names?"

Collei immediately started counting on her fingers, listing off all of her friends, something Alhaitham wished he could do - but the closest he had to friends in town were Kaveh and Madame Ping, "...Sigewinne, oh! And, Kirara! She's older than me, though."

Alhaitham nodded along, "Good to hear. What do you want for dinner?"

"Soup!"

That evening, after dinner, Alhaitham opened his email, replying to a few job offers and organizing a few interviews. He clicked on an email from an unsaved sender.

Below, was a list of emails. Alhaitham clicked onto Kaveh's profile, reading his calendar to decide which day would be best for him. He began typing out the email.

He clicked onto another tab, searching up 'Discreet deafening headphones.'

Sound was something that seriously bothered him, but he could never find good or affordable options to help him with this issue. He sighed.

Alhaitham closed his laptop, attending to Collei who was drawing on her desk in her bedroom. He leaned against the door frame, watching her paper for a moment, "Do you like your room?"

Collei didn't look up, but hummed along anyway, "So much!"

Alhaitham lingered for a few moments longer before walking back down the stairs, reaching phone perched on the kitchen counter, he dialed the local painters - aiming to get the dining room painted and sorted whilst Collei was at school.

He spent the next few days attending interviews for work, it stretched out into the weekend, he was thankful to eventually get a call back and notified that he was hired by Sunday.
