"Okay, okay! It's time for truth or dareeeee!" The girl I was pretty sure was Kastilla, said mischievously. All the girls cheered in excitement. Except me.
I hated games like this, especially with Myla. She was always so strategic with the questions she chose to ask and the dares she chose to give.
"Oh, yes! Let's go!" Alicia and Myla yelled in unison.
"Who's first?" Jestany yelled over the roar of excited voices.
Everyone was starting to feel the alcohol; the excitement was palpable in the air.
"Heavenleigh'll go first." Myla said volunteering me. "Right, Leigh?"
The room fell quiet as everyone turned to me. I imagined there was an imaginary spotlight on me, thrusting me into the center of all this unwanted attention.
"I will?" Confusion rolled off my tongue.
"And I have the perfect question!" Myla jumped in front as all the girls cheered her on.
"Uh, okay." I had a bad feeling; I just wasn't sure why.
"Alright," Myla turned to me and looked me dead in the eyes. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare, dare, dare!" Everyone cheered on.
There was no way in hell I was picking dare.
"Truth".
Myla chuckled maliciously. She had that sparkle in her eye—the one that meant you'd better watch out because no one was safe.
"Is it true..." She dragged on. "That you're a whore who wants to fuck Zhollo?"
Silence engulfed the room.
Bewildered, I stood there with my mouth wide open.
What the hell? Where did that come from?
"Uhm no, I'm not a whore, and I don't want to fuck Zhollo." I murmured quietly; I wasn't even sure she had heard me.
I looked up at her, making eye contact for two seconds before I looked away. She had this quiet anger oozing from every one of her pores. I knew she was mad, but I didn't know what to say to fix it.
"So, you weren't all over him, flirting after school?" She cocked her hip and put her hand on it.
"No, I mean, I ran into him." Literally. "But I didn't flirt with him."
Even if I had wanted to, I knew better. Everyone knew Zhollo belonged to Myla; even though they had never officially gone out, he was hers.
"Hmm... okay! I was just kidding anyway." Myla laughed in a reserved sort of way, turned away from me and sat down.
She acted like it was just a joke, but I knew she had been serious.
"Alright, who's next?" asked Alicia.
And just like that, they moved on as I eagerly faded into the background.
Why had she asked me that? How did she even know I had talked to Zhollo?
Questions kept swirling around in my head.
I was sure Myla had left for the day before I even left the school. I mean, I had seen her leave at least twenty minutes before me. Unless she had bugged Zhollo with camaras, there was just no way she could've known. She might've been a little delusional from time to time, but she wasn't crazy.
Okay, maybe, a little crazy.
None of that really mattered though; I knew I didn't do anything. All I did was talk to him. Yeah, I ran into him at first, but it wasn't like I did it on purpose or talked his ear off.
