Zhollo's POV
"Bye guys!" I said as I started to head out the door, only to be stopped by my mother's voice as she chased after me.
Stopping in my tracks, I turned to her.
"What's up, mom? I gotta go; I'm late picking Myla up." I groaned impatiently.
She knew I had a date with Myla!
I sighed frustrated. I just asked Myla to be my girlfriend; I didn't want her to piss her off.
"Hey, lose the attitude, sport!" I heard my dad yell from the living room.
"Yeah, I just wanted to congratulate you one more time at making the team and for training with your brother the last few days; he really looks up to you so much." She had tears in her eyes. "And I just wanted to say that we love you and are so happy you are our son."
All the annoyance in my body dissipated as a tear streaked down her face. Closing the two feet in front of us, I pulled her into a hug. Since I towered over her, I sat my chin on top of her.
"Thank you, mom. Thank you for loving me." I said as I patted her back.
Giving her a kiss on the head, I started to turn back towards the door.
"I wanted to give you this." She called after me.
As I turned around, she threw a white envelope at me. Catching it, I flipped it around in my hands in an attempt to figure out what it was.
With no such luck, I tore open one of the ends. Inside was a stack of 20's. I was guessing it was maybe four or five hundred dollars.
I felt my eyes instantly widen in shock.
Holy hell.. They can't be serious!
"Whoa, mom, what the h-"
"Watch your language." She responded sternly, but with a smile on her face. "You're welcome, honey. Now, shoo. Go have fun on your date."
My mom began to shoo me away like I was a fly. As the laughter erupted from her and infected me, I left the house feeling like I was on top of the world.
I wasn't sure what exactly had changed for me.
Maybe it was Heavenleigh.
Her death had changed something within me, within everyone in the school, to be honest; even Myla. It made me realize how precious life is and how truly blessed and gifted I am to have the life I do.
I'm surrounded by people who truly love me and would do almost anything for me.
I could never imagine taking my own life and leaving everyone behind to grieve. A big part of me kind of understood, but the other part just thought suicide was selfish.
"I would never do anything like that." I mumbled to myself as I jumped in the car.
Throwing the envelope from my parents into my inside right jacket pocket, I sent Myla a quick text letting her know I was on the way.
She immediately responded and said,
Drive safe, see u soon (:

Heavenleigh's POV
Sitting in the backseat of Zhollo's car, I watched as he walked from the house to the car.
"I would never do anything like that," I heard him mumble as he jumped in the car and put the key in the ignition.
I could guess what he had been thinking before.
