As I walked up to U.A. High, I felt a piece of me missing. Even if I had Ochaco right beside me, I still felt different. Ochaco was trying to lift my spirits it worked, kinda. Well, not exactly. The only reason I stopped looking so down was when the green-haired boy walking ahead of us tripped on a rock and started falling face first to the concrete below him. Ochaco noticed immediately, just as I did, and rushed over. She touched him and stopped him from face planting with her quirk. I was right behind her and pulled the boy up by his yellow backpack.
"Are you alright?" Ochaco asked as she released her quirk once the boy had his feet safely on the ground.
"Almost took quite the fall!" I teased. I let go of his backpack and stood beside Ochaco.
"That was my quirk, sorry I used it without asking," Ochaco sheepishly explained.
"But it would be bad luck if we let you fall!" I added with a sincere smile. The boy was still looking at us flushed and shocked.
Ochaco just smiled, "Isn't this so nerve-wracking?"
I looked at her and nodded. "Yeah!" I looked back at the boy, who was even more flustered now.
"I- Well- I- Uh- " He stammered animatedly, much like myself when I'm nervous.
"Well, we'll see you inside," Ochaco said, I stuck my thumb up at him and waved. As we left, there was one thing in his mind; 'I just talked to two girls!'
Ochaco and I sat down beside each other in the stands of the large auditorium owned by U.A. High. We talked mindlessly, waiting for more people to fill in and be given instructions. "That boy was kinda cute," I said mindlessly.
"He's a little awkward though," Ochaco added with a giggle.
"Adds to his charm! I'd be nervous too if I had the Ocacho Uraraka saving me!" I said as I slung an arm around Ochaco with a chuckle.
"What is up U.A.? Thanks for tunin' in to me, your school DJ," Pro Hero, and radio host, Present Mic - also known as Hizashi Yamada - said enthusiastically. "C'mon! Let me hear ya'!" He turned away from the crowd and put a hand to his ear expectantly. The crowd was completely silent. I didn't want him to get upset or disappointed, so I clapped my hands with an ounce of enthusiasm out of respect. It was a little awkward though since I was the only one, but I noticed Mic perked up a bit once I did - which seemed impossible.
"Alright!" He said, "That's what I like to hear! Now, let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, okay? How about it! Yeah!" Once again, I was the only one that cheered alongside him. Ochaco smiled at me and I sheepishly smiled back. "Like your applications said, today you rockin' boys and girls will be out there conducting ten-minute mock battles in a super urban setting! Gird your loins, my friends. After I drop the mic here, head off to your specified battle center, you hear?"
Once again, I was the only one who cheered. The embarrassment went away after doing it twice already. I mean, I wasn't gonna see these people like ever again - probably - so... Why not indulge in a little whimsical fun? Present mic went on to explain the three different kinds of robots in the mock battles. It was pretty simple, some were worth one point, some worth two, and some worth three. But, someone raised their hand with the application gripped tightly in their other. His glasses gleamed brightly as the spotlight now locked into him. "I am Iida Tenya from Sohmei private academy!" The boy introduced after Mic asked for his name. "On the application, it says there are four robots. You have only listed three. If this is a mistake on U.A's part, that certainly will not do. This is the most prestigious school-"
"Oh no, that wasn't a mistake," Present Mic said, casually interrupting Iida's speech. Mic pressed a button and the screen behind him moved to the next slide, showing a huge robot silhouette. My eyes widened. "This one isn't worth any points."
