The three VKs joined the boys in the classroom. Just like last year, Fairy Godmother stood there with a computer monitor, all prim and proper as usual.
"Alright. Now that you're all here, we can begin." With a click of a button, the Blue Fairy started the meeting. Four faces appeared on the screen and Evie sighed with relief. The last thing she needed was to see her mother. Jay and Carlos looked a bit disappointed though. They hadn't seen or heard from their parents since they chose to stray from the path of evil and vengeance.
"Jaime, me boy! It's so good to see you," Smee blubbered. "H-how is Auradon? Are you having fun?"
"Yeah, Dad. Everything is so soft here. The beds, the clothes, even the soap! Nothing smells bad. Classes are a little hard, but everyone has been nice. Coach Jenkins said I'm a good runner like Carlos, maybe I'll make the Tourney team next year." It was the most Evie ever heard the boy talk and he was beaming but he suddenly looked guilty. "But I really miss you, Dad. I wish you were here."
"Oh. Me too, me boy. But I'm so happy to know you are doing well."
"Alright, Sonny. We only have so long so move over. How's life with the shinies, pumpkin?" Dr. Facilier's grin was enormous and unlike a lot of villians of his caliber, his had no malicious intent. His eyes held only adulation for his youngest daughter.
Celia returned the grin. "Life is pretty swell on the other side."
"You runnin' any hussles?"
Celia looked pointedly behind the monitor and FG gave her a tight-lipped smile. "Me? A hussle? Daddy, I am a newly reformed woman."
Fairy Godmother poked her head around. "Hello there! Miss Celia is a work in progress and I'd like to discuss that progress with you in private, Mr. Facilier."
He removed his hat with a sly smile. "That's Doctor Facilier, little lady. And might I say you are a ravishing one at that."
"Oh. Uh." She cleared her throat and patted her hair with a fluttering of hands. "Well that is--" with a quick glance around at the students--" not entirely appropriate, doctor."
"All the same, starlight. I look forward to our chat about my daughter's continuing education in your delicate, capable hands."
Evie exchanged a look with Jay and Carlos while Celia made a gag sound.
"That's enough of that." Lady Tremaine pushed Dr. F out of the shot. "Dizzy, where are you?"
"Um back here, Grandmother."
"Move to the front so I can see you," the infamous Wicked Stepmother of Cinderella demanded impatiently.
Dizzy did as she was told. Her grandmother tutted at the sight of her. "You couldn't dress up nicer? There are bound to be nobility and royalty alike there today. If you hope to move up in the world, you must place your best foot forward. You are representing the Tremaine family name. Do not forget who took care of you all these years."
"I won't-- I mean, I haven't!"
"Do not interrupt me."
"I-I'm sorry, Grandmother. I will do my absolute hard--no, best!--wait, y-you'll be happy. I made friends!--well, one, not Celia, she is actual--"
With a roll of her eyes, Lady Tremaine raised her voice. "Enough. Good gracious. You're going to a finishing school and they haven't taught you how to speak properly. How disappointing. Your voice and that awful stutter of yours frays my nerves. Just remember. Poise, grace, and most of all, silence. Maybe someone will take pity on you then." Dizzy turned away, pressing her face into Evie and the witch wrapped her arms instinctively around the girl as Lady Tremaine continued to bash the girl relentlessly. "Are you listening, you daft girl? If you must, resort to asking Cinderella to take you in. It's the least that termite can do when she took advantage of living under my roof---"
