"So you looked at ease today. I mean you made the uneven bars your bitch." Scott said as I sat at dinner with Lisa and Scott after day one of qualifying. I had done uneven bars and my floor routine.
I laughed at his comment and then looked at Lisa.
"I think having Ma here is a big help. I mean Scott you are amazing and having you here too is nice but I needed a parent." I said, Scott nodded in understanding.
"I get it, I'm not mad." Scott said as our food was delivered to the table.
"So tomorrow is beam and vault?" Lisa asked and I nodded with a nervous sigh.
"Vault I'm good. I could vault in my sleep..." I trailed off.
"Hey, make beam your bitch too. You got this." Scott said and I shook my head.
"Actually I don't...I haven't nailed down my beam routine. I have a round about in my head of what I want to do but honestly...no clue." I explained.
"So you're going to wing it?" Scott asked.
"I don't want to say winging it but -..."
"Winging it." Lisa interrupted and we laughed.
"I will decide tomorrow. I have to have some short of plan." I said and everyone nodded.
We started to eat and I was thankful just to have a moment of calm before the craziness of the next day.
Lisa and Scott walked me back to the Olympic village before they went to their hotel. As I was about to walk away Scott's phone rang with a FaceTime and I saw it was Carly.
He answered and I saw Carly, Shanna, the kids and Chris all there.
"Hey! It's the whole gang!" Scott said and they laughed.
"We wanted to see Aspen and tell her how amazing she was today." Shanna said and I smiled.
"Thanks guys! You watching tomorrow?" I asked.
"We wouldn't miss it." Chris said and I smiled.
"Send her positive vibes since she plans on winging her beam routine." Lisa spoke up with a small chuckle and I groaned.
"What?!" Chris yelled.
"Aspen!" Carly snapped.
"Are you crazy?!" Shanna asked.
"Okay I'm not totally winging it, it just haven't nailed down my routine." I said.
"Don't you think you should do that?" Carly asked.
"Yeah...maybe..." I smirked. I looked at Chris and could tell by the sour look on his face he wanted to say something. I sighed. "Chris, wipe the look off your face. Watch tomorrow and you'll see that I will be fine. Everything will work out. I'm not going to do something stupid. I know better." I continued.
"I know you do..." Chris trailed off.
"Okay well we love you. Go get some rest to be well rested for tomorrow." Shanna said. I blew them all a kiss.
"Love you guys too." I said and then Scott looked at the camera.
"I'll call you guys back when Ma and I get back to our room." Scott said and they hung up.
I hugged Scott and Lisa.
"Listen, don't worry. I will have everything planned tomorrow, I promise. I don't want to take of chance of fucking this up now." I said and they both nodded.
"See you both tomorrow." I said as I then walked away to head to where I was staying. I thought the whole way back and just sighed. This was more complicated than I thought.
The next day I walked into the gym with my team and looked towards the beam.
"You okay?" Aly asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, just going over final moves in my head..." I said and she nodded.
"You panicking?" She asked.
"Nope, very much loose and ready." I smiled at her as we stopped to get ready.
Was I loose? Sure.
Was I ready? Absolutely not.
Was I about to just wing one of the most important routines of my Olympic career? Looked like it.
**CHRIS POV**
We were all gathered around the tv and we were waiting to watch. It was going to be her big day for beam.
"I hope she figured something out." Carly said and I nodded.
"Me too. She looks confident though." Shanna admitted. I just listened to them talk as I sent up a silent prayer for this to go her way.
"Chris? You okay?" Carly asked.
"Just nervous for her and trying to take her nerves from her." I said and everyone smiled.
"It will all be okay Chris, she isn't going to wing this, she planned something I'm sure." Carly said and I half nodded.
I pulled my cellphone out.
Chris: Hey have you or Ma talked to Aspen today?
Scott: I called her this morning to wish her good luck.
Chris: Did she plan out a routine?
Scott: She didn't say and I didn't ask. I figured she knows what she is doing.
I ran a hand over my face and groaned.
"What?" Carly asked.
"I don't think she planned anything. She didn't tell Scott if she did or didn't and he didn't ask." I said.
"Well, here's hoping she knows what she is doing." Shanna said and I nodded.
I put my phone back in my pocket and watched as they showed her on tv. She seemed to be having a conversation with Estelle and Thomas. Thomas rolled his eyes and Estelle just shook her head.
That gave me all info I needed, she wasn't prepared.
**ASPEN POV**
"You don't have anything planned?!" Estelle yelled in a whisper. I had never seen her face so tense.
"I have a mount and a dismount planned just the stuff in between I don't have planned." I smiled trying to make it sound better.
Estelle ran a hand over her face and sighed.
"Figure it out." Estelle said and I nodded.
I walked away from her and walked over to just look at the beam.
"You will not defeat me." I whispered.
As I stood there and looked at the beam everything hit me like a brick wall and a routine jumped in my head. I just smiled and walked back to the group to just wait.
