It was Monday morning, a bright, sunny day in summertime. Emily's workplace was located in a small town with several surrounding villages. She lived by the countryside, very close to the shore. There was a huge breeze coming in from the coast, and while she drove to work, her long blonde hair caught the wind and flowed behind. The black building where she worked was located in between two large, oak trees. Inside, there was a main entrance hall, and a front desk. It had ten recording booths, five on both sides, and each individual singer had a star on their door. Half of them had partners. Her boss, Scott, nodded when she walked in.

There was another new singer, too. Adam was tall, very handsome, and had brown hair that fell down to his shoulders in luscious locks. His eyes were a shade of dark green, the same as a fir tree in a forest. She saw him and they smiled at each other. "So, how's your song coming along? I know you're also new, but you were supposed to let me hear what you have so far," he said.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I had no idea," she replied, blushing. He laughed happily at her, and she started laughing along with him. They laughed for about twenty seconds, and then his expression changed from cheerful to serious. He was a famous dancer who loved to sing as well. He had told his manager Scott that he wanted to be a professional singer, too. The reason why he had decided to start working there was to record songs with a partner and become a well known singer, too. He had read online about how any new singers could choose to record their songs with or without one. His mind was set on recording them with her, and he wanted to make sure he heard what she had come up with for her song.

She looked at him with fear in her eyes. He put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "It's fine. I'm just kidding! But I am going to need to hear what you've been working on.  We're going to go to the booth and I'll play the first half of my song first. I can't wait to hear what you have come up with for yours. I bet your voice is just as beautiful as you," he said.

"Thanks!" she replied. They walked to the booth and she sat down in the chair outside. Adam impressed her very much, and she clapped for him. Her voice sounded like an angel's.

"Wow, that was really good!" he exclaimed, getting up from the chair and hugging her. "We should add your vocals to my song, I bet it would be much better and a lot more fun to record!, " he said.

"Okay! Yeah, let's do it!" she replied. They high-fived and got straight to work. After hearing every few lines, she added some lyrics of her own and wrote them down in the songbook. Half an hour later, they managed to successfully record the first half of the song, and it sounded a lot better with her voice included. Everybody else heard them and stopped recording their songs to listen to them. Emily enjoyed all the attention she was getting, but this was not her only job. She is also a part-time dance instructor, and it was eight forty-five. Her class started at nine fifteen, and the time to drive there was twenty minutes. "Sorry, I have to go, I'm going to be late," she explained.

"For what? We just started recording the song, don't you want to finish the rest?" he asked.

"Yeah, just continue recording without me. I have a different job that's part-time and my boss hates it when I'm late. It's only one hour long, I'll come back later after I'm done," she replied.

"Okay, works for me. I'll see you later," he replied.

"See you." She left and drove to the dance studio.

Fifteen minutes later, she arrived, and her boss was standing at the door waiting. Her name was Victoria, an old friend of her parents. She always came to class in a white leotard and tights, her brown hair tied up in a tight bun, looking very much like a professional ballet instructor. At the age of five, Emily had shown them how talented she was at her first recital. Back then, performing on stage for her was a breeze, and she loved being the center of attention. It made her feel alive, like nothing in the world mattered. Her dad had told her to start a singing career because he knew that Adam was a great singer and thought that he would be a very good influence on her. She had no idea that he knew. His dad also knew, and her dad had made sure that his parents didn't tell her.
