The next morning, Adam woke up at seven, got out of bed, changed his clothes, and went downstairs. His father was in the kitchen brewing a fresh pot of coffee. Adam sat down at the table. "Good morning, mother, morning father", he said cheerfully.

"Good morning, son", they replied. His father finished pouring the coffee into three cups, gave one to his mother, and the other to him.

"Thanks", he said, taking a sip and savoring the wonderful taste. "It's really good." His parents sat down, and they enjoyed drinking their coffee. After they finished, his mother got up from her chair and started making pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon, toast with strawberry jam, and fruit salad.

The smell of pancakes made Adam's mouth water. It was his favorite breakfast food; she had always made it for him ever since he was a little boy.

"Do you need help, mother?," he asked, noticing that she still had a lot of food to prepare."

"Yeah, can you get some pieces of bread from the pantry and toasted them. And the strawberry jam is in the fridge."

"Okay", Adam replied. He opened the pantry door, got the bread out, put some in the toaster and pressed the lever down. As he was getting the jam out, his mother thanked him for helping. "You're welcome."

When she was done cooking the scrambled eggs and bacon, she got a pair of tongs and placed them onto a plate. Adam got another plate for the pancakes, and his mother took the maple syrup and poured a generous amount on top. She got a cutting knife and used it to place them onto each plate. "There you go, enjoy!" "I will," Adam replied, a smile on his face. They prayed to the lord, then started eating. "Mmm! The jam's delicious! The taste is so sweet and fresh!," exclaimed his father.

"Thank you, I picked the strawberries yesterday from my garden and made it," she said.

Adam excused himself from the table. He went upstairs, got out his guitar, and started playing. After hearing how it sounded with the lyrics, he got out his songbook and wrote them down. He played it a few more times, filling the house with his beautiful music. His parents heard him, and wondered what his song could be about.

Meanwhile, at Emily's house, everyone was helping to prepare for her birthday. Her parents were putting balloons in the kitchen. Her mom had made her favorite kind of cake, chocolate with vanilla buttercream frosting. When Emily was five, she had stuffed some in her mouth and gotten cake all over her face. Her mom had taken a picture and put it in a photo album. She got it out from a box in her room, showing her how happy she was in it. "I remember this picture!," she exclaimed. She took the album and started turning the pages, looking at all the memories and feeling happy.

"It's my present to you, happy birthday, sweetheart!" Emily hugged and thanked her, then continued looking through the photos.

The living room was getting set up as well. Her dad got out some fun party games, such as monopoly, chess, and checkers. He had invited her friends and a couple of relatives. These included, Aunt Mary, Uncle Henry, Cousin Amy, and Cousin Luke. Mary and Henry were both in their mid-fifties, and Amy and Luke were a young couple in their early twenties who had been engaged for six months. Every time they went to parties or gatherings, Amy loved to show off her ring. It was a princess-cut with a blue sapphire stone set in the middle.

After everything was set up and ready for the party, everyone went to the kitchen for some tea. Emily was wearing a pink dress with a white bow. Her mother made the tea, and got out the scones, too. "I made these the other day, there's chocolate, blueberry, vanilla, and orange", she said, putting them on a serving plate. Everyone enjoyed eating them.
