WOOYOUNG

School was finally over. It had been weeks since I stopped talking to Yuqi. I was doing my best to avoid her, still unsure whether she was really the one who hurt me or if I was just overthinking it.

When I got home, I noticed some packed bags by the entrance. I looked around and saw my parents coming downstairs, both wearing neutral expressions.

As dad saw me, he cleared his throat and fake smiled.

"Oh, Wooyoung! You're home early... maybe a bit too early," he stammered, glancing nervously at my mom, who just rolled her eyes.

I took off my backpack and shoes and raised an eyebrow. "What's going on?"

"I'm sorry, Wooyoung... Me and your mom are divorcing. She cheated quite too many times, and it's the decision she took. To leave to the States with her new lover." Dad said, giving mom a tired look.

He sighed and continued, "I'm heading to France to start a new business. You can come with me, or stay here to finish school. I'll call you every day and send money regularly." His voice broke, and tears began to fall.

I looked away and gave him a reassuring nod and a small smile, understanding the situation.

I cleared my throat, looking back at him. "It's okay, dad. I understand. It will be hard at first but I will get used to it."

He smiled and squeezed my hand gently. "If you want, talk to San about moving with you. You could use a friend."

I nodded. It didn't sound like a bad idea.

I was alone. Completely alone.

I sighed, setting my phone on the nightstand. As I got up to fix my hair, I muttered, "I don't get it either, San..."

"So your parents divorced, your father left the city for a good time, your mental health is horrible, and now you're kind of alone? And you want me to move with you?" San exclaimed as he crossed his arms.

I rubbed the back of my neck. "Look, it's okay if you don't want to. I know you're living with the girls, and it might not be the best idea to leave them just for me—"
