Alicia rushed to the door, her eyes lighting up when she saw him. “I missed you!” She gave him in a tight hug then sensing Spencer’s vibe. He hesitated before responding, a smile plastered on his face that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

“I missed you too, Licia.” he lied, stepping back. “How have you been?”

“Great! Just finished planning for the fall gala at the wedding store,” she said, still with a smile. “You should totally come with me!”

“Yeah, I’ll think about it,” he replied, his heart not really in it.

“Why do you look so… weird and distant?” Alicia asked, tilting her head as she studied him.

Spencer ran a hand through his hair, “Can we sit down for a second?”

“Of course?” Alicia led him to the living room, her eyes widen unsure of where this conversation would go. “What’s going on?”

He took a deep breath, bracing himself. “It’s about Liv”

Alicia’s expression shifted slightly. “What about her?”

“She’s pregnant,” he said quietly, watching Alicia’s face for any sign of reaction.

Alicia blinked, then nodded slowly. “Okay… and? Is it yours?”

Spencer rubbed the back of his neck, “Yeah, I just told you because-”

“Because you wanted to be honest with me, right?” she interrupted, with determination in her voice. “Spencer, you don’t have to worry about me. I want to be by your side, no matter what. Olivia’s pregnancy doesn’t change or define that for me.”

He felt a flicker of relief, but it was overshadowed by his guilt. “I appreciate that, but-”

“Spencer!” Alicia’s voice softened. “You’ve been through a lot. I’m here for you. You don’t have to pretend with me.”

He smiled, but it felt hollow. “Thanks. Im just going to call her.”

“Okay!” Alicia called after him, still grasping on the news he just told her.

He called and to his surprised she answered the call, his heart racing. “Olivia?”

“What Spencer?” Her voice was cool, but he could hear annoyed tone in his voice

“I told her,” he said, trying to keep it steady.

“W- What? What did you tell her?” she asked, and he could tell she was growing impatient.

“I told her you’re pregnant. I wanted to tell her so we-”

“Spencer, you know what? I don’t really care. Why are you telling me? That’s your business.” The line went silent before he could respond.

“Olivia-” but the call was already disconnected. He stared at the phone in disbelief, did she really just hang up on him?

Olivia threw her phone on her bed, She placed a hand on her stomach, whispering, “I love you. I love you so much” The tears streamed down her face as she felt the weight of everything around her was so much. She wished for Ms. Grace’s comforting presence, but she remembered Ms. Grace’s mixed reaction to the news.

Taking a deep breath, she got up, forcing herself to take a shower. The hot water felt soothing against her skin, hoping for the water to take away her pain. She climbed into bed, staring at the ceiling, unsure of what tomorrow would bring.

The next morning, Olivia’s phone buzzed incessantly. It was Spencer again. She reluctantly picked up. “What?”

“Open up the door for me,” he said, his tone unexpectedly soft.

Rolling her eyes, she hastily threw her hair into a bun. “Im coming” she mumbled, trudging downstairs.

When she opened the door, she was sure her heart sank to her feet. There stood Spencer, with Alicia next to him, both having smiles on their face.

“Hey, I brought Alicia and a few things for you,” Spencer said, holding up a bag.

Olivia plastered on a fake smile. “Thanks” she replied, stepping aside to let them in.

“I got you ginger chews, saltines, and gum. Plus, your favorite candy!” Spencer said, clearly trying to lighten the mood.

As they walked into the kitchen, Alicia broke the ice. “So, how far along are you?”

Olivia’s mood darkened. “That’s none of your business,” she snapped.

Alicia’s smile faltered. “I was just asking because spencer didn‘t t-”

“Excuse me,” Olivia cut her off, hurriedly excusing herself and rushing up the stairs, almost desperate to escape her ex and her ex’s girlfriend.

Spencer followed her, confusion written all over his face. “Olivia, wait!” He caught the door just as she tried to slam it shut.

“What the hell do you want?” she snapped, her heart racing.

“I just want to talk to you,” he said, stepping inside.

Olivia plopped down on her bed, crossing her arms defensively. “Why did you bring her? This isn’t a group project, Spencer! This isnt a eleventh  grade taking care of a baby project. Its real life.”

He ran a hand down his face then said. “I thought you could handle it, okay? I didn’t want to keep shit from you!”

“Handle it? You think I can just handle your girlfriend being her? Well jokes on you, i can‘t!” She glared at him, her voice rising.

“This shit is not a joke, Olivia! This is real life like you said!” he yelled making an echo in the small room, making Olivia jump.

“You know what? I wish i didnt fall in love with you. I wish I wasn’t pregnant with your child! I wish i never met you, because i hate you. I hate that you got me pregnant at twenty years old.” Olivia said, as her words felt like she stabbed him in his stomach.

Spencer’s face fell, the hurt abvious in his eyes. “You… you don’t mean that,” he stuttered.

But she couldn’t take it back. “I do. I wish everything was different.”

He turned on his heel, storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

Olivia knew deep down inside that she didnt mean anything she said but she was so hurt and tired. Tired of everything and everyone.

She crumpled onto her bed, tears flowing freely as the reality of her situation crashed down on her once more. Alone in her room, she buried her face in her hands, the weight of pain pressing down like a lead blanket.
