"I'm a bit confused." Olivia said, following Klaus out of the library.

"About what?"

The sun hit her skin as they stepped out on the sidewalk.

"You said you were from a founding family. Why do you have an accent?"

Klaus chuckled, "The same reason you do. My family is an original family. However, they scattered over the centuries. I spent most my childhood in Europe and moved here in the recent years."

"Where are your parents?"

"Dead." Klaus responded.

"Any siblings?"

"None that I associate with much." Klaus said.

They were standing outside the library, Klaus looking down at her.

"How far away is this art museum anyway?" Olivia asked.

She made a mental note she had forgotten to take her medication this morning.

"It's just a smile down the street, are you up for a walk?" Klaus asked.

Olivia nodded, "If you lead the way."

Klaus smiled, beginning the walk. Olivia kept her pace, letting her eyes take in the scenery of Mystic Falls. It seemed to be a small, quiet town.

"Why are you really here, Olivia?" Klaus asked from her side. He was walking to her right, closet to the road.

"I have never met my dad." Olivia said honestly. "Yesterday was the first time."

"How old are you?' Klaus asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Twenty-two."

"So, for twenty-two years you went and never met your dad. Now, you're suddenly in town for a visit?"

Olivia sighed as she continued to walk. She started to feel her heartbeat. It was a bit hot out. Her mind went to Dr.Baker telling her not to walk or run long distances because it could be too much strain on her body. A mile is nothing, Olivia thought. She would be fine.

"I have to say Klaus, it's a complicated situation. A situation too complicated to get into with a stranger."

"I'm no stranger." Klaus offered, "We are hanging out, I know your family."

"Maybe it's a situation you couldn't handle."

Klaus stopped walking, turning to her. "I can handle a lot of things."

Olivia bit her lip.

"Let's keep walking."

Klaus started back walking. He remained silent for a few minutes.

"I'm dying." Olivia blurted out.

Klaus stopped dead in his tracks, turning to face her.

"What?" He asked.

"I'm dying, croaking, passing away, however you want to phrase it."

"What's wrong?"

"Big fat brain tumor," Olivia said, walking ahead of him.

"Is it cancer?" Klaus asked, jogging to her.

"No, that's the weird part. It's a benign tumor."

"How long are you going to be in town?"

Olivia shrugged, "I had planned a month."

Klaus smiled at her.

"Olivia, I promise to make this the best month you have ever had."

"I appreciate that, Klaus."

"Well, I wouldn't want you to sulk in your death thoughts all day every day."

Olivia chuckled, following him. They walked for a few more minutes. The sidewalk ended in front of a large white building with columns.

"Here we are." Klaus said.

"It's bigger than I expected."

Klaus extended his hand. However, Olivia chose not to take it. She stepped through the doors in front of Klaus. Her mouth fell open. The museum was a large open room with art on every corner.

"Impressive, isn't it?"

Olivia nodded, glancing to Klaus. "It's beautiful."

They spent the next several hours looking at different paintings in silence. Olivia stopped at one. It was a woman with red hair and blue eyes. She was in front of a large sunset with beautiful orange hues. Olivia focused on the name in the corner. It read Klaus.

Olivia turned to him. He wasn't looking at her, just the picture.

"I didn't know you painted."

Klaus nodded, "It's a pass time."

"Who is the woman?"

"Someone I knew once." Klaus said, "Someone I loved."

"She is beautiful." Olivia thought.

Olivia also noticed a striking resemblance to herself.

"You remind me of her." Klaus said honestly.

"Is that why you talked to me at the grill yesterday?"

"Yes."

Olivia nodded, still looking at the painting.

"What happened?"

"She died."

Olivia looked to Klaus; he was looking at her.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that."

Klaus shrugged, looking to the painting. "It seems I have a trend fancying women with a limited lifespan."

Olivia smiled, looking down.

"I think you only fancy me because I remind you of her."

"That may be why I spoke to you yesterday. However, you defiantly hooked me with your charm and humor."

Olivia chuckled. "Those are large words coming from a man I have only known for 24 hours."

Klaus returned her chuckle and began walking towards the door. Olivia followed him.

"Have you ever met people and knew they were meant to be a part of your life?'

"Yeah." Olivia said, "I have."

"Me too." Klaus said, holding the door for her.

Oliva followed him out. The sun hit her skin. Her head began to spin. She started to feel sweat on her forehead and hands.

"Olivia?" Klaus asked. "Are you OK?"

"I'm not so sure." Olivia replied, "I forgot to take my medicine and I'm feeling lightheaded."

Klaus pulled her to a bench. "Olivia." He scolded, "How irresponsible of you to not take your medicine."

Klaus looked deep in her eyes, brushing hair from her face.

"You don't look good." He spoke.

Olivia chuckled, "Just what a girl wants to hear."

Then, the world went black.
