He woke with a start because somebody knocked on his door.

"Percy are you in there" Grover said

"coming" he said and got out of bed

"You have to see this" said Grover urgently

They both ran and Percy saw a group of campers crowded around two girls. Percy pushed his way through the group of campers and looked at the girls faces.

"Annabeth!" he said in shock

Annabeth stood up and hugged Percy.

"Yeah, seaweed brain. Thanatos let us back through the doors of death" She laughed

Percy was filled with happiness. He smiled for the first time in days and hugged Annabeth tighter. He saw Jason's shocked face in the distance and beckoned him over. Percy watched as Jason sprinted over and ran to Piper. Chiron came over and smiled.

"We must have an assembly" he announced

A few minutes later, the entire camp was gathered in the mess hall for another assembly. Percy, Annabeth, Jason and Piper all stood up the front with Leo, Hazel and Frank beaming with happiness behind them.

"As you all know," said Chiron "seven demigods went on a quest but only five returned. Thanatos gave these two demigods a second chance and they returned through the doors of death. Please congratulate the seven demigods who defeated Gaia!"

The entire camp erupted in cheers. Percy walked over to Chiron.

"What happened with the Romans?" he asked

"Oh, there is no need to worry about that." He replied, "I sent an iris message to the party ponies to deal with them."

Percy laughed. He ran over to the crew of the Argo II and sat at a table together. They laughed together while they ate their food and danced and sang to the campfire songs. For the first time in a long time Percy felt pure joy. Leo made jokes and everyone laughed at them. Nobody had a care in the world until they heard a voice.

It's not over demigods. The voice said. I'll get you next time I wake.

"Gaia" said Annabeth with fear in her voice.

"She won't be woken in a long time" said Chiron "I'm sure of it."

They continued the party but the crew from the Argo II wasn't in the same mood. Eventually Leo cracked a joke that made everybody laugh. Percy stood up and grabbed Annabeth's hand. Together they snuck away to Half-Blood Hill where they sat together and watched the sun set. They talked and talked about what happened and what they were going to do next. Eventually they both fell asleep on the grass holding hands under the setting sun. Percy had dreams of him and Annabeth growing old together and watching their grandkids as they played in the water. Percy woke, hugged Annabeth and sat there for a few moments.

"Are you going to go home this summer?" he asked Annabeth

"Yeah probably. What about you?"

"Same"

They saw the rest of the crew climbing up the hill to them.

"Hey guys" said Leo "my cabin is going to do fireworks

"Come join us." Said Percy "it's the best spot to watch them from"
