Joes POV
I was shown to the 'family room' where I would have to wait for Molly to come out of surgery. Magazines were thrown carelessly on the table in the centre of the room which was surrounded by blue squishy chairs. Once I had sat down and managed to stop crying a bit I pulled out my phone to reveal 25 new messages from Zalfie, mainly just things like 'are you alright? Is Molly alright? Is the baby Ok' but they had also sent a picture of Jackson all tucked up in bed in their spare room, that just really hit me. This morning we were all laughing at Jackson dancing to frozen and now my wife is laid on an operating table while doctors try to safe both of their lives.
"Mr Sugg, your baby girl,"A doctor started as he walked through the door. I quickly wiped my eyes then went to see what he had to tell me. He handed me a photo that looked just like Jackson when he was born. "Your wife is in intensive care, she is in a really bad state. If we had got the baby out of her any later I think she would have passed. Your little girl has been sent to the special care baby unit as she is premature."
"Can I see them?" I said through the tears.
"I think we might be able to get you to the baby, right now your wife can't have visitors. If you could follow me this way to the special care baby unit." The doctor then directed the way to the unit, I stayed silent. How could all of this happened?
The door slowly opened to a low lot room filled with incubators with tiny babies in. The first baby nearest the door was wrapped in a little pink blanket and had doctors rushing around her.
"That's your little girl!" The doctor smiled.
"Why is everyone rushing around her?" I ask concerned.
"She's new in the unit, it happens to all the babies, don't worry," A kind nurse said. "are you baby Suggs daddy?"
"Yeah, is she Ok?" I ask as I try to hold back more tears.
"At the moment she's stable." She smiled. "Did you choose a name?"
"Georgia, Georgia Ebony." I sniffed. It's so hard to be strong in these situations.
"What a lovely name!" She smiled. "can we let daddy have a quick look now?" She shouted at the team who were all crowding around Georgia's incubator. The doctors all stepped back and the kind nurse signalled for me to go and see her, after a few seconds the doctors all went to do something else leaving just me and the other nurse alone next to Georgia. Her little face is just so tiny and her little eyes are shut, her little tiny feet were kicking away at the bottom of the incubator but her little arms stayed on either side of her tiny body.
"You can touch her if you like." The kind nurse said as she lifted a small flap open. I slowly placed my hand in and stroked her tiny little palm, she then clutched my finger in her hand. Her skin felt so soft and delicate like just a sheet of paper over her bones.
"My little girl," I started as tears started to stream out of my eyes.
"I hate to have to say this but I'm afraid you'll have to go Mr Sugg. The ward is open to visitors from 9-10 every day though." the nurse smiled sympathetically.
"Thank you so much for everything you are doing." I said as I shook the lady's hand then walked out of the unit, through the hospital and into my car, I then just let everything out. The doctors still said that I couldn't see Molly yet so i decided to go home and try again tomorrow. Although it was 10pm I decided to drive to Zoes house as that's where Jackson is and all I want to do now is hold him close to me and never let go.
"Joe?" Alfie questioned as he opened their front door for me. My eyes were horribly year stained and tears were still streaming from my eyes. Alfie took me into a tight hug, shut the door then I went into the living room where Zoe was sat with Nala.
"Oh my god Joe!" Zoe shouted as she leapt up from the sofa and gave me a hug. "What's happened?"
"They have had to deliver the baby." I sniffed.
"That's good then isn't it?" Alfie asked worryingly.
"Molly's in intensive care, and the baby is in the special care baby unit." I wept. Zoe took me into yet another hug and Alfie went to make some hot drinks.
"Oh Joe I'm so sorry." Zoe whispered into my shoulder. I pulled out of the hug and handed her the photo that I had been given by a doctor.
"She's gorgeous!" Zoe smiled. "she looks exactly like Jackson!"
"Will you come with me to the hospital tomorrow Zo?" I ask, Zoe starts to nodd.
"Of course I will, and your not going home in that state you can stay here as long as you need." she smiled.
I can always rely on my sister!
