Joes POV
"Did you sleep well?" Alfie asks as he stirred the milk into my coffee and placed it on the table in front of me.
"I didn't sleep, I could only think about Molly." I whispered as I stared into space and took a sip of my coffee. "I rang her mum last night and explained the whole situation. She's on holiday right now but she's getting the first plane back today. She sounded so worried and concerned. All I did last night was hold Jackson tight to me."
"She'll be Ok Joe. Molly is a fighter and if Georgia's is anything like her mummy then she is a fighter too. You just got to stay strong." Alfie smiled. Zoe then walked down stairs and practically copied what Alfie asked me.
"You ready to go?" Zoe asked as she grabbed her bag and gave Alfie a quick hug and kiss.
"Let's go," I said plainly as I walked out of the door and went over to Zoes car, she had already told me that she refuses to let me drive so I went over to hers.
After a fairly awkward car journey we finally arrived at the hospital and I directed Zoe to the baby unit. Neither me or Zoe like hospitals so for us it was horrible to roam the corridors trying to find the unit where my little girl was. Eventually we found it and I directed Zoe to where Georgia was.
"She's so tiny." Zoe smiled as she placed her hand into Georgia's incubator. Her little finger tips wrapped themselves around Zoes finger and clutched it tightly. Through the night the nurses had to put a light over her as they said that she was slightly jaundice, her little eyes were taped shut so the light didn't damage them.
"My little Georgia." I said as I slipped my hand into the incubator and stroked her little cheek.
"She'll be ok you know Joe," Zoe said as she pulled her hand out of the small plastic box.
"You don't know that Zoe." I whispered as I continued to stroke my baby girls cheek, she could hear Zoe and I talking so she had turned her head to face me.
"Joe, I know everything will be ok!" Zoe started. "Now let's see if we can get into the ICU to see Molly."
"We'll be back soon baby girl," I whispered as I kissed my palm and placed it back into the incubator before rubbing her cheek again.
Zoe and I then walked through the maze of corridors until we finally came to the intensive care unit. After being told which room Molly was in we were directed to her bedside. Inside my head I was trying to prepare myself for seeing My Mol. Yesterday's he was her usual happy self and super excited for our second baby to arrive, now both her and the baby are fighting for their lives.
"This is Dr Smith your wife's doctor," the receptionist said as she opened the door to the room and left. As soon as I saw her my eyes filled with tears. her usual beautifully smooth hair was all knotted over her pillow and her usual bright, soft skin was horribly pale and dry. She didn't smell like her usual perfume and she was dressed in a simple white hospital gown. If she could see herself she would be so mad, even when she had Jackson she refused to wear a hospital gown and insisted that we got one online. The doctor was checking all the wires that were coming in and out of her, fiddling with them like they were straws. Then I saw something that I knew wasn't a good sign, she had a ventilator.
"Mr Sugg?" The doctor asked as he looked up from his clipboard. I quickly nodded as a rogue tear slipped down my face. "Your wife has suffered from internal bleeding and infection of the bladder."
"Is she going to be ok?" I ask.
"At the moment she is in a stable condition but that could change at any second. If we had got the baby out any later you could be in a totally different situation. The baby's doing well I hear?" He asked.
"Yeah, Georgia's doing Ok." I whisper.
"What a beautiful name for a beautiful baby!" He smiled, he then placed his attention back to Molly. "your wife might have to have more surgery but at the moment we are playing a waiting game. Molly is the one who has the power. I do give you my deepest sympathy at this time Mr Sugg, no family should have to go through this."
He then left leaving Zoe and I alone in the room with Molly. I gripped onto her hand tightly and I just sat like that for hours without saying anything. We then split the rest of the day up between the ICU and the special care baby unit, this could be going on for quite a while.
