Scars Of Marriage.

chapter 6: The Wedding.

My father has been in a good mood for the past three days and that's because he was given a job position in the government again.

He hasn't stopped smiling since then,he asks me to eat with him and even told me to freely ask him for anything I want.

"You are truly a blessing Ada!look what you have made your father achieve,treat well that boy Henry" he said with a big smile.

I wasn't surprised that it was because of charpil's words that my father got his job back. Mr Musa Charpil was a well known super rich man who could have a seat besides the president of Muni country,some people said that the presidential campaign was funded by him.

His words were therefore final,if he suggested for my father to be in office again,then that would exactly happen.

My wedding was set to be two months from now but it had already been announced to the public.

I was also able to clearly get access to online news. Many people scolded me for being a nobody country bumpkin who only had to sell myself for money.

Others said that him being married to me was just to please his father's wishes and he would eventually go back to his old ways.

They were right though,I was a country bumpkin. About selling myself,not so much,I would eventually get married one way or the other. It's just that I had to get married to Henry who was from a wealthy background.

I would try my best to be a good wife and not put my family to shame. My father has also got his job back. I wouldn't want to see him moody again.

During the two months period,Henry called me every night, asking me how my day went and how I am preparing for our wedding.

I always answered his questions truthfully and he also told me about his busy schedules as he usually traveled overseas for business appointments,went for Tv, radio and other internet interviews. He was a really busy man.

Days went by in a blink of any eye,more gifts that I couldn't even remember had been sent to my door and I distributed them amongst our family accordingly.

Three days to my wedding day,Tanti and sima  came to  help with the wedding preparations.

Although the charpil's had already hired experts for every specific task, having my best friend and sister here made me secure.

My brother said he would be there on my wedding day. I knew he was busy so I didn't mind

"You lost weight?" I couldn't help but notice Tanti's change.
"This is common in the high class society,I couldn't put Zire to shame, luckily you are already thin" Tanti said.

I couldn't help but internally criticize Zire's social class,I was thin because I couldn't afford the food I always wanted to eat. Tanti knew it and she had never brought it up. Her bringing it up now shows that it was reality.

Will I also be subjected to such measurements? I silently felt a bit uncomfortable.

Sima sighed " Tanti is right unfortunately,have you seen those people's sizes?some can't even give birth at their weight,but I think Henry isn't biased" she said.

On the wedding day,I went through all the wedding processions,but because of the charpil's status,I had to also engage in their other family celebrations.

My pictures were also taken, Henry said they would be hang in his family's ancestral home. I didn't have any objection.

Henry left and went to meet up with his friends. Tanti stayed by my side and my brother also showed up.

"Brother!" I tried not to seem excited as I called.
"Shiba" Ady called emotionally.
He then sat besides me.

"Tanti, congratulations,I wasn't able to make it on your wedding" he said.
"No problem,I received your gift" Tanti smiled as she said.

"Halo,who could you be?" Zire asked as he approached us.
My brother slowly turned to face Zire.
"I am Ady, shiba's brother" he introduced himself.

"Oh,I have heard about you,you were tirelessly working in the next town to feed your family,we love a hard working man! luckily you are now in luck." Zire said.

I didn't know why but Zire's tone didn't sound like he was giving a compliment,it was more like mockery.

"Ady,this is my husband Zire,Shiba,I will be back"  Tanti said as she stood up and indicated for Zire to follow her.  Zire cast another glance at my brother's face before following behind Tanti.

My brother quietly watched them leave before turning towards me.
"Shiba,I want to say that if anything,and I mean anything bothers you with Henry,don't be afraid to reach out to me. Don't worry about anything else." He said.

"Shiba? Is this my brother in law?" Henry interrupted our talk with a gentle smile on his face as he approached us.

"Yes,this is my brother Funa Ady" I said.

"Nice to meet ,I am Henry Charpil,Shiba will be in my care from now on" Henry said.

The two shook hands" I have heard a lot about you" Ady politely said.
"I hope they were all good things" Henry said with a grin.

My mother suddenly called me to follow her somewhere so I left my brother talking to Henry.

"Mother,where are we going?" I asked.
"Mrs Charpil wants to introduce you to some of the sister in-laws in the Charpil family " my mother whispered.

It was here that I remembered Henry's two older brothers. One was a renowned lawyer and the other was the city mayor.

When we arrived,Mrs Charpil and some two women who were dressed in untraditional fashionable and high class clothes were laughing and talking about something.

"Julie, Kelly this is Shiba. She will be Henry's future wife. Shiba,these two are your sister in-laws" Mrs Charpil introduced.

I politely greeted the two, although we wouldn't be staying together as women would go to their husband's house, knowing each other was helpful.

Kelly slightly smiled and greeted me back,Julie gave me a pitying look? when I tried to read her face again,the look was gone.

"The three of you might meet in public or other social settings,get to know each other" Mrs Charpil said before she headed outside with my mother.

"So how did Musa even find you to arrange this marriage with Henry" Kelly crossed her legs as she asked while checking for something in her bag.

I discovered that it was an electric cigarette! I was beyond shocked,she could smoke? Not that I haven't seen women that smoke but in Muni country, women were strongly prohibited from smoking! It was greatly frowned upon.

"I don't know,I only met him at my friend's party." I slowly answered.

"You are such a lovely girl,I guess you can only blame yourself for being too good" Kelly added. I gave her a confused stare before Julie broke out in uncomfortable laughter.

"You are really brilliant and beautiful Shiba,that's what Kelly meant " Julie said,I kindly thanked her for the compliment before I helped pour each one of them tea.
