chapter 5: Henry is Good.

Rumor travels fast,by the next day,all the neighbors had already known that I was to be married to Henry Charpil.

There was an uproar among many. When I went to town as usual, I got different stares,some being of envy,furry, anger and acknowledge from the older women.

"Look,she is still pretending to sell ghee,who is she trying to please with this act!" One young lady in the market 'lightly whispered ',of course her words were meant to be heard by everyone.
" I guess the charpil's were brought over by her act" another nearby woman said before the two laughed.

" Shiba my dear,don't mind them,those two are always talking behind people's backs. Everyone is already used to their actions." The aunt who normally bought our products said.

"Madam Shelly,I really don't mind" I said as I passed her the products.

Unbeknownst to me, someone had taken pictures of me in the market and posted them online informing everyone that I was the to be wife of Henry and there was a heated debate online.

When I arrived home,I was told that my father wanted to meet me,so I headed there.

"What did I tell you! Don't go outside bringing shame to our family!look what these people are saying on-line!" My father roared as he showed me the conversation on his phone.

I really wanted to laugh in his face right now,what do you mean bring shame to our family? Hadn't my mother and I been living off this very business for as long as I can remember!

"Dwanti,you also know that Shiba is new to the whole thing. Give her some days to adjust" wonga soothingly said as she patted my father's back gently.

I guess the clothes I sent her last time did the trick,she winked at me to affirm her words behind my father.

I also wanted to ease my father's anger,if he felt like that business was beneath our family now,what could i say.

"I am sorry,it won't happen again,I didn't know that someone was taking pictures of me." I humbly said. My father's anger seemed to have decreased.

"Go and reflect on yourself!" He said.

At midday,I had just finished taking a bath when I heard my mother calling me.

"Mum? what's the matter?" I replied as I rushed to put on some clothes before going outside my room.When I was inside the house,I just dressed in baggy sweatpants and shirts.

Unexpectedly,I saw Henry sitting in our sitting room talking to my mother.Henry gently smiled when he saw me.

"Don't mind my presence, I just came to check up on you. I hope the online discussion didn't affect you in any way" Henry inquired.

"Not really" I slowly replied

"That's good then,those people on line are insufferable." Henry sighed in relief.

I immediately headed back in my room to properly get dressed,I was used to our traditional dresses.

When I came back downstairs,Henry was just leaving,my mother encouraged me to escort him so I did.

"No need for you to send me off" Henry said
"No problem,you are a visitor here" I said.
" By the way,you looked very good back then,I mean in sweatpants and shirt. You elevated that attire just by being you" Henry praised.

My face suddenly grew hot,I didn't know what to say or do so I just looked down. Henry laughed at my reaction before he opened the door to his very expensive car.

"I bought you this phone,just use it for now,I don't seem to have seen you with a phone?so I also registered the phone lines for you,there is only my number there,you can add any other numbers you want. I guessed it would be easier to communicate this way.". Henry said as he handled me the phone case.

Although I wasn't informed in some things,I knew that this was the latest iphone! I couldn't possibly accept such a gift. That was too much,Henry had already given me more than enough.

Henry seemed to have guessed my intention to refuse "Don't refuse,as my future wife,I will need you to only hold the most worthy things. Also I need to speak to you at most times." He said.

I had to accept the phone at last and thanked him .He smiled and lightly laughed.
"I told you not to be reserved Infront of me,okay,ask for anything you want. I will make sure to give it to you,don't ask me to give you the moon though" He said and joked.

I lightly smiled as I thanked him once again. He helplessly sighed and smiled before he bade goodbye to me.

I silently watched him drive off in a distance while carefully holding the phone box. This phone could cover my father's treatment for good, I thought before entering into the house.

"Henry seems like a good man. Giving you these expensive gifts without hesitation?." My mother said after examining the phone.

I gently nodded, according to my interaction and observation,he was well put together and articulate. He was always considerate and accommodating to me.

I immediately input my brother, sister and Tanti's numbers in the new phone.

"This will be my new number from now on" I said as I talked to Tanti on phone.

"Henry is considerate" Tanti said.

"How about Zire,how is he treating you?you are still in your honeymoon phase right?" I asked

Tanti was suddenly silent before she sweetly answered" Zire is good,he was the choice I made,how couldn't he be treating me like a princess!"

"Ewwee... That's good,I love happiness for you" I happily said.

I heard a man calling for Tanti on the other side of the phone.
"Listen Shiba,Zire is calling for me,let's keep in touch later" Tanti quickly said.

"Okay, quickly go ahead" I argued.
It seems as though Tanti and Zire were inseparable,I thought.

I then called my brother and sister who were happy to know about Henry's actions.

I also think that Henry is the best choice,I will treat him well just like he does to me.
