Years slowly went by. Archie and Tracy were now teenagers, and Massey had joined Michelle and taken a fashion route. Klain would also normally come to visit; Archie liked him and always looked forward to his visits.
I would return to Muni occasionally to check up on my mother, father, and siblings. Ady had three more children with his wife, Molly; the two always seemed in love every time I met them. My family had also started some small businesses in town, which became prosperous.
On this day, I had finished reading through the fashion design proposals when a call came in. I was told that Klain was badly injured and hospitalized. I immediately informed Richard, and together we went to visit him in Muni Main Hospital.
"What happened?" I asked as I sat beside him.
"I am sorry, Mom. I couldn't understand you. I wanted to study Dad, to know who he really is, but I simply couldn't. Today, I discovered that I don't know him at all," Klain said.He refused to explain even after I urged him to. I just stopped asking.
The Charpil family had now been completely annihilated; it was a family in the talks of the past.Lilly had also gone back abroad, according to rumors. Massey had once told me that it was discovered she wasn't capable of having children in this life. I had been shocked after this discovery.
Lilly loved Massey and Klain. She had once hinted that she wanted children of her own. I suddenly felt pity for her. How could she have felt in that moment?
When the drip was over, I planned to take Klain to the house that Richard had bought in Muni. Klain had formally completely refused our help, but surprisingly, he now complied and silently followed us.
We exited the hospital entrance, and a drunk man staggered toward us. "Oh! Shiba! My beautiful wife! Klain, come home! Where is that girl Massey?" Surprisingly, I saw that it was Henry. This unkempt, tall, and thin man was really Henry!
I remembered the proud Henry, the one who could step on people as though they were just ants, the one who held authority and power, then looked back at the current Henry. Karma was really real, I thought. Richard immediately hugged me and led me in the opposite direction.
"Where are you going? That's my wife! Hahaha, my wife! After everything disappeared from me, you all quickly ran away like the hypocrites you are!" Henry rebuked.
"Dad, you hurt Mom; that's why she left. Lilly, whom you loved so much, left. Still, not everyone left. I was by your side," Klain painfully said.
"You shut up right now, you ungrateful bastard!" Henry said as he picked up a bottle from his jacket and attempted to smash it on Klain's head. I was suddenly alarmed and frightened as I attempted to run towards him; however, Richard was faster than me. He immediately stopped Henry's actions.
"What kind of father are you? This is your child!" Richard reprimanded.
"You can take him for all I care, just like you took the other one!" Henry said before staggering off.
"Dad," Klain choked out. Richard immediately hugged him.
"It's not your fault; it's his. You weren't a bad son," Richard said as he then led Klain to the car.
I visited home, my brother and sister, Tanti's mother, and her grave. Then we once again left Muni for Dun. Klain went to medical school; he was so brilliant and intelligent.
I sat outside the villa as I thought things through. I wondered what happened to Sophie; I didn't really get to know the answer to that.
I then thought about Klain. He was perfect at what he did, but he never came close to having any relationship outside of medicine. I could sense that he avoided relationships at all costs.
When Massey and Klain came over to the house, Massey would talk about her boyfriend, whom she would soon introduce. She had even been in failed relationships, but she still had hope in love.
As for Klain, he would only bury his face in his plate as he silently ate his food. I had noticed every detail of his behavior. It brought a pang of pain to my heart; I didn't know if I was the cause of his behavior or if it was Henry.
I blamed myself for ever meeting Henry, but I loved my children a lot. Nothing would ever change that.
"What is my lovely wife thinking about?" Richard gently asked as he hugged me from behind. I smiled gently as I held his folded hands tenderly.
"Can you connect the doctor who was treating my nightmares to Klain?" I asked.
"No. That's not the right doctor for him. I have also seen his character slowly change. I will ask Fred for some help," Richard commented. I nodded my head in understanding. Richard was really a lucky star I accidentally met; if only we had met earlier.
"I think meeting you was simply meant to be. I also think that Klain and I have some slight similarities. Don't worry about him; he will be fine. I am fine, so one day, he will too," Richard said. He then sat beside me, and we quietly watched the birds in the distance.
"Richard, honey, I am so grateful for everything you did for me. I don't know what I would have done without you," I calmly said.
"You are my wife; everything I have belongs to you. I said I will be responsible for you. Also, it wasn't only my doing," Richard said as he held my hand.
I turned inquiringly towards him. "Remember the video of that dead man who was sunk in acid?" Richard asked. I slowly shook my head in confusion.
"Well, that man was an uncle of someone big in the underground scene. At the time, the relatives were scared of Charpil's power and could do nothing, but now everything is different. After the Charpil family lost its footing, that family made sure that they could never stand again. I actually didn't spend too much energy on him," Richard said.
I nodded in understanding. "Mom! Dad! When is brother Klain coming? You said he would come over today! However, he hasn't shown up yet!" I heard Archie ask as he headed our way.
I helplessly looked at him. Archie was always excited when Klain came over; he simply couldn't sit still when he knew that he would come around.
"What is the time?" I asked. Archie looked at his watch before walking away in frustration.
I smiled in amusement at his actions. "Is Tracy still running around with Massey and Michelle? She also won't venture into fashion, will she?" Richard worriedly asked.
"Tracy just likes being around them; they also indulge her and give her whatever she wants. I, however, can see that she isn't interested in fashion at all," I calmly said as I held Henry's hand.
"I was planning on training Massey and handing over 'Miracle Swan' to her. What do you think?" I slowly asked Richard.
"You can do whatever you want. I was waiting for you to hand over the company to someone. We should take a vacation; I will take you all around the world," Richard sighed as he said.
"Okay, I also would love to spend more time with you and the children," I said as I gently kissed him.
"Mom! Dad! Klain... Ewwee... what are you doing?" Archie had walked towards us some time ago and interrupted our moment.
"You are not welcome here! Quickly go away!" Richard commanded.
Archie nonchalantly looked at his father. "Brother Klain has arrived; I just wanted to let you know," he said as he turned to leave.
"Did you change your bickering from Fred to Archie now?" I helplessly asked.
"Who is bickering with who? That boy thinks he is now grown!" Richard said in dissatisfaction.
"Well, he has grown, and so have we. You are starting to sound old," I said.
"Oh? I am old now?" Richard asked in an accusing tone.
I helplessly smiled, stood up, and held his hand before urging him to stand up. "Not old; you are handsome, my handsome lucky star. Let's go," I said as I pulled him towards the inside of the villa.
