I was immediately led to the hospital, and Pearl personally escorted me there.

When the doctors who examined me saw my situation, they showed expressions of astonishment but then later looked away as though they hadn't noticed anything, proceeding with the examination. I guess they worked for the Charpils too. Who in Muni didn't? How could I expose Henry?

I immediately thought about the Muni police station. Although the Charpils would have connections there, the entire police department couldn't be working for them, could it?

An idea came to mind: I would stealthily escape from here and head toward the police station! I had the videos; I would openly make all the police officers watch them! Even if those connections were inside, the truth wouldn't be hidden!

The doctors finished their check-ups and explained some things to Pearl. Pearl nodded in understanding.

"Shiba, you will be put on a medical drip for about one hour, then we shall go back home," Pearl commented. I immediately nodded in understanding.

Pearl sighed as she pitifully looked at me before sitting on a nearby couch. I wanted to find a way to leave, but with Pearl keeping watch, that might seem difficult.

Some minutes passed, and Pearl didn't leave. I was becoming frustrated! Time was passing by; I didn't want to return to that house.

"Pearl, could you please get me some coffee?" I weakly asked.

"It's not good to drink coffee in your situation. Wait for some minutes; your drip is almost done. You can eat anything you want at home," Pearl said.

I guess God was working in my favor at this very moment as Pearl received a phone call from someone requiring her to step out for a bit.

I quickly removed the needle connected to the cannula and threw on a nearby hospital gown that one of the doctors had left behind.

I then proceeded to use the door that the doctors from before had used; they didn't pass through the main door but another one.

I hurriedly removed the coat when I reached the hospital entrance and threw it in the nearby trash can. I then pretended to be a patient as I limped off the hospital grounds.

Some of my bandages simply couldn't hide my wounds, as blood had started seeping into them.

It was at night; my state may have alarmed some people as they looked at me worriedly while I passed by them, but I simply didn't pay them any mind.

I immediately touched behind my back and felt the secret phone that I had hidden in my bra. I removed it and checked its condition; thankfully, it hadn't been harmed!

I hailed a taxi and headed to the nearest police station. I paid via my phone and immediately went in.

I attracted the attention of all the police officers around due to my state; my entire face was completely wrapped up, and I cut a very sorry figure.

"Hello, please have a seat. Let me call someone to assist you," a very polite police officer said as he led me to the nearby seats.

"I don't want you to call anyone. I also don't trust the police. I came here today because I hoped that there would at least be one police officer who would ensure that justice is served no matter what!" I confidently said as I stood up from the chair with the support of a nearby table.

Most police officers stopped what they were doing and turned to face me.

"Madam, please don't imply that we are not trustworthy. We work to serve and protect! No one is above the law! Quickly tell us what is wrong now," I heard a loud voice say, coming from a nearby office.
