ALICE learned that her father had called Diana to see if she was there, and she'd covered for her. The only reason Nathanial knew Alice wasn't there was because he'd come over to try and talk to her, and she wasn't.
That being said, Alice invited Diana over to eat whatever expensive goods Deborah(the cook) hid in their pantry. Of course, she took up the opportunity and stuffed herself.
"So," Diana said, rubbing her full belly. "Christopher isn't doing drugs anymore. I made him flush them down the toilet while I watched."
"Wow," Alice said, widening her eyes. Why were the two even still together?
"Right? I thought it was totally stupid, you know." She smiled, her thoughts going elsewhere before she interjected, "he's picking me up after this. Got a car from his dad's friends mechanic. It makes a weird sound while driving but doesn't die on ya, sooo." Diana checked her nails and then looked back at Alice. "Damn, I'm gunna be all fat when he gropes me now."
"Fat? How?" Alice looked at Diana, the blonde haired five foot tiny girl.
"All that food," she smiled. She stood up, walking over to Alice's closet. "Can I borrow some clothes? He's been clean for a day." A day, Alice wants to scoff, but she's serious.
"Sure."
Everything Alice could fit into, Diana could. Except for the fact that Alice was five foot five, and her jeans would be way too long on her.
Diana smacked her lips after applying lip gloss on. "Oh, Alice. I should totally hook you up with one of Christopher's friends. His name is... now what was his name," she snapped her fingers, trying to remember. "You know, I don't really remember, but I can ask Chris when he gets here."
"When is he coming anyway?" Alice asked. Were we sure he wasn't doing drugs right this moment.
"Probably on his way," she said, brushing it off with no concern.
"Let's hope. If not, you'll have to be stuck with me," Alice shook her head sarcastically. And then her lips burst into a smile.
"That would be terrible, wouldn't it," Diana shook her head. "But seriously, can I ask you something?"
"Of course," Alice replied.
"Where were you last night?" A smile crept on her lips, and she elbowed Alice.
"Nowhere," Alice defended herself. It's not like she'd almost died.
"Come on, don't pretend like your hands don't exist. They're all bandaged up and stuff." She frowned. Alice covered them with her jacket sleeves.
"Nothing, seriously." Alice rolled her eyes playfully.
"Do you have a new boyfriend. Or or," her voice rised with excitement, "back with David?"
"Nooo, not David." Alice scrunched her nose up.
"Eh eh, you never know." Diana shrugged.
"Riiiight," Alice said with skepticism. Before she could say how ridiculous it was for her to ever get back with David, a cars engine growled outside three times.
"He's heeere!!" Diana smiled, raising her hands into the air. "Gotta go, love."
"See you, Di!" Alice waved, smiling at Diana's excitement. So maybe they weren't exactly the perfect people, but at least they made each other happy, right?
Alice took it back. When she looked out the window, she could see him feverishly gripping her leg. They'd definitely be having rough car sex in about ten minutes.
With that, she walked past the crash room, Nathaniel's and his friends laughing and the faint smell of smoke in her nose. Not today, she thought. Alice walked through the twisting halls of the large building she called home. That's when she reached her father's office and decided she'd make amends with him - only because she had to get in that ball. She had a feeling if she didn't find a way to, that guy would kill her.
