As morning came around Lucy's drug-induced confidence led her to strut into the police station, her dangerously thin figure clad in a tight-fitting shirt and shorts. The stares from her coworkers burned into her like lasers, their concern evident in their wide eyes and gaping mouths.

Angela and Grey rushed towards her, but she didn't give them a chance to utter a single word. Her red-rimmed eyes locked onto theirs, and with a fierce determination born of desperation, she spoke, "I quit." The words hung in the air like a gunshot, echoing through the silent station. The mixture of shock and worry etched on their faces only fueled her anger. *They don't understand*, she thought, her mind racing with paranoid thoughts. *They've never been where I am.*

Angela went to put a hand on her shoulder, but she shoved it off. "You chose Tim, you never ever listened to my side of the story, you treated me like dirt on your shoe. You made me think I was worthless. All of you ignored me, i have never felt more alone than i do right now. Don't bother trying to stop me, I've made up my mind!" she shouted in despair.

She could hear whispers behind her as she turned to leave, the weight of their concern heavy on her shoulders. But Lucy didn't care—she had nothing left to lose. Her world had become a cruel joke, and she refused to be part of the charade any longer. As she pushed open the station doors, the harsh sunlight stabbed at her pupils, and she winced. But she kept walking, her steps unsteady yet determined. She had to find another fix—another way to numb the pain.
