Zoo Skeletons

Prelude 3

A raid had happened 5 years ago on an underground lab and market which revealed they had 19 skeletons there. They all seemed to have a familial bond and were taken to be housed at a research institution.

All of them had a lot of variety in appearance. Odd was the largest with her brother Strange. Candygore, his brother Candycorn, and Candygore's son Toad had a candy like appearance with unusual features. Stitches and Pyrus both sometimes seemed to be covered in blood for an unknown reason. Sketch and Chrome were black, white, and grey in appearance. Rain and Drop both seemed to love the rain and puddles. Window and Pool were both adapted to fly and swim. Pink and her brother Care both had pink coloring. Oni was unusual with his horns though his brother Pax was rather normal. Lantern and Lamp were the smallest with a strange glow and abilities with fire, shadows, and light. Casper and Jack o lantern or Jack had odd glowing material on them.

The group all came from various parts of the world originally, but peacefully coexisted and considered each other family.

Destiny was nervously meeting with several others. A project was proposed that part of an expansion to Ebott zoo, a large zoo that already had two skeletons by the name of Sans and Papyrus who were born in captivity, would be a large enclosure for various skeletons.

As had been proven through a couple individuals, various subspecies could get along. It also gave the chance that more skeletons could be born and pull the species back from near extinction. Around 500 subspecies were believed to exist, maybe more, however only around 300 wild individuals were known to exist and 400 individuals in captivity.

After a stressful meeting, it was concluded the project would happen.

Notes on the basic biology of the skeletons in this book:

All have tails

Most have protrusions that act as ears or sensors on their head that they can move and use to convey emotions

Skeletons lay eggs that can hatch after 1-4 years.

Skeletons egg clutches are called clutches by humans and monsters and litters by skeletons

Pup, Cub, child, babybones, skelly, and more are terms for young skeletons

Caskets are what skeleton eggs are called

There can be 1-7 caskets in a litter, but 1-3 is most common.
