The One Hundred Steps Cemetery is a secluded graveyard that sits in a clearing high above the road. The rising stone steps upto the graveyard are counted neither more nor less than hundred.
It's construction dates back to the 1860's and sists high on a grassy hill. It is located on Country Road 675, west of the 340 jog on US Highway 40, to the west of Brazil, Indiana.
The story, that has been told is no one dared to arrive at the old cemetery at midnight. However, if anyone wishes to go to the cemetery, one must go to it by counting the steps. As you start your way to the graves, you are supposed to count the steps. This is not as easy as it sounds, however, since some steps jave cracked from age, or have been over-grown with grass.
Once you have managed to make your way to the top, there is more than physical exhaustion to take your breath away! The legend maintains that if you turn and face the open field by the cemetery, especially if tge moon is shining that direction, a ghost will appear out of the misty moonlight.
Without speaking a word, this ghost, is said to be the cemetery's first caretaker. And he will reveal a vision to you, it is a vision of your own death. Then the ghostly visitor from the other world will quietly disappear.
Your mission is not finished, however, for as you make your way back down the stairs, you are supposed to count the stairs back down the bottom. If you count a different number on the way down, it is said that the vision of your death will come true.
