Hello, my name is Brenda. I wish to tell you about the way that I and several of my friends passed away, if that's ok with you. Don't feel bad for us, it was all fun. Scary, but fun. That's the least they could have done anyways after we had been locked up for so long. Some of us may have deserved death, but those who did, were not my friends. I only made friends with those who had committed similar offenses as me. Anyways, I'm rambling on. Let's get into the tale of my scary fun death, shall we?
I had been locked up for theft. It started as "petty" theft but I had a family to take care of. I needed food, and diapers, and a few other things. I was eventually caught and locked up. I made friends with girls who were in for similar as me. I was 30 years old when I got caught and taken in. I barely got so say goodbye to my family.
The next thing I knew, I was thrown into a cell with three other girls. They were all nice and we grew to become friends as we would all be together for at least the next three years. Well time grew on, and some guards were kind, others were not. Like they forgot we were human too. Chow was never terrible, but never the greatest. I grew a strong bond with the three girls though. Their names were Christy, Leavandra, and Melanie.
Eventually, the jail got too crowded and so the guards decided it was time to start the death penalty. This jail had a different way of going about this sort of thing though. They let you choose how you died. And everything was fun. There was an obstacle course, a roller coaster, a giant swing set, a huge ball pit, and even a swimming pool. Prisoners got to choose.
Sadly though, they mixed some of us up when they pulled death row. Melanie, Leavandra, Christy and me had been in the mix up. And they didn't care to fix the mistake. Oh well. At least we would get to choose. We were still scared, but at least we'd go out in a more fun way. We huddled up and talked for a minute. I decided I would go out by the giant swing set and so did Melanie. Leavandra chose the roller coaster, and Christy chose the ball pit.
Melanie and I walked over slowly to the giant swing line, and our stomachs began churning like butter. I thought I would be sick. Melanie and I clasped hands as we walked up. We were about half way through the line for the giant swing. She was right in front of me and we dared not let go of the other's hand. This was our comfort. We knew we would see each other in the after but we weren't ready, even though we knew this would be a fun, easy death. Tears streamed down our face until we got to the front of the line.
"This is it." She whispered to me, shakily and still crying a little bit.
"Yep. It's ok though. I'll see you in the after. I'll have to see you in the after." I whispered back.
"Dude. I fucking love you dude." She said.
"I love you too, man. I love you too." I said back. We caught each other in an embrace, not wanting to let go. The guard finally gently pulled us apart with a sad look on his face. He knew we weren't supposed to be here. He couldn't do anything about it though. Melanie stepped forward. The guard patted her back as if to comfort and to say he was sorry. Then, she took a deep breath, and sat down on the giant swing. She swung for a few minutes, each time the momentum of the swing increasing and going back and forth further. She shut her eyes as she took her final swing, then fell forward, off the swing and landed dead on the floor. Then it was me.
I stepped up, wiping away a tear and gave the guard a small nod indicating I was ready. He treated me the same as Melanie. I whispered to him, "It's not your fault." And he helped me onto the swing. I began to swing, closing my eyes, and feeling peace finally. I swung for what felt like ages. It was fun, and I felt like a child all over again. A small smile slid across my lips. I just swung and swung at peace with the world until i was ready to let go. I took my final swing, and fell forward. Dead. And I went to join Melanie in the after.
