The sky was beautiful like it always was, but it only took the end of the world to make you really appreciate it. You looked over at the girl that you were fortunate enough to have been able to call your friend, you weren't raised to have friends but only to fight. Luckily you managed to make one as it was the only good thing in your eyes to come from these experiments, that you were put through since you were a child as they were done to make you strong.
It was an odd pairing as you are the son of one of the most militaristic families on Krypton, and she is the daughter of the most prominent Inventors and Innovators. but that didn't affect your relationship in the slightest as you were just dumb kids back then. The House of Zod and House of El weren't Rivals or enemies, but they just weren't as close as the two of you, but despite everything you two weren't met to be together as you were a soldier as that was decided from birth for you, and she was free to choose whatever field of Science she wanted.
You decided to break the silence that had settled between the two of you, "So do you think there is a chance that your uncle was wrong and just being paranoid?" You knew he probably was right and Krypton was doomed, but a part of you wanted him to be wrong and block out his warnings like the council is doing as you just wanted to spend more time with her.
The girl looked at you for a second before contemplating, as she wanted to say he was wrong too, but she couldn't. "No, He checked the data and ran countless simulations, but Krypton will explode within the next week or so."
You lean back into the grass as you look up at the stars once again, wanting to be somewhere far from here with her, but that is impossible. "A week huh, so I have a week to live my life how I want to live it, without anyone telling me what to do and how to do it. Doesn't that sound fun Kara?"
Kara chuckles to herself before she gets on the grass right next to you, "So you want to fit as much as you possibly can into this week? If anyone else told me this, I would think they are crazy, but I feel like you can pull it off Y/N."
You let out a small smirk at her, "So Kara, do you want to spend the rest of the week with me?" This is the first step to the best week of your life even if it was the last week of your life, all it needed was for her to say yes to this one simple request.
She tilts her head towards you, "It only took the end of the world for you to finally agree to have some fun with me, I can't wait to show you all the fun things in the city." The smile that she radiated as she talked about the places that she wanted to take, made you wonder why you didn't listen to her sooner.
"I vividly remember saying that I would do things the way that I wanted, but here you are planning on the many ways that you would drag me across Krypton." You didn't mind that she was already planning the week for both of you, but you also wanted to show her the things that you like and show her things that she didn't know. This week was for the both of you to spend your last days together.
Kara laughs to herself about the joke you made. "Maybe I am just trying to stop you from getting lost or making sure you don't sign up for something that I know you wouldn't like, but I just want to show you the things that I like, and hopefully you like too as I want you to enjoy what time you have left."
Things got slightly depressing, but you understand what she meant, so you went back to looking at the stars. "Then let's start tomorrow with you showing me all the wonders of the city, and then the day after that I will show you all the interesting stuff about the wasteland, and we can just alternate."
Kara turns her head back to the stars as she wishes she could spend the rest of eternity like this with you. "That sounds fun, I can't wait to show you the aquarium, it has a lot of extinct species that aren't alive in the wild anymore. Apparently the Cryogenics that my father created help a lot with the preservation efforts, and so I am allowed there for free in the VIP sections."
But before you could continue talking about your little field trips, both of your smartwatches alert you that it was time to return home as you jumped up from the grass. You turned to help up Kara as while she wasn't as athletic as you, but she was still pretty good for a scientist, "So see you tomorrow Kara?"
"Yeah, see you tomorrow Y/N. I can't wait to spend the rest of the end with you." Kara took your hand as she used it as leverage to get up as both of you laughed at the immature joke, you watched as she left and headed to the hovercraft that was sent to pick her up.
You feel the grass beneath you start to get displaced as you turn to face your father, Dru Zod as he looks at you with a look of slight disappointment and sadness. "I hope that despite everything her Uncle is wrong, for my sake and I will look into this matter myself son."
You step up to enter the hovercraft with your father as you didn't understand, "What do you mean?" Your father was a rarely outspoken man, and he was usually calm and collected as befits a general, but this was different.
"I will tell you when you are older if you still wish to know, but we have things to prepare for with the recent surge in aggression with the wildlife." Your father didn't want to dwell on his matter, and you weren't going to push the matter as you stood next to him as the hovercraft took off.
