ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ GROCERY SHOPPING
━━━━━━━━━━NELLIE PRANCED OVER TO THE PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY, HAPPY TO FINALLY BE GETTING MORE.
Ricky shook his head and rolled his eyes at his daughter's attention-bringing actions. He's had to deal with her doing the most bizarre things since she was a kid and he still wasn't used to it.
"PB down, now we gotta get the J!" She said as she searched the aisle for the bottle. Once her eyes landed on it she light up before grabbing it and putting it in the cart.
As they walked the aisles for the rest of the things on their list, Nellie worked around in her head how to bring up her next topic. "So, what do you think about the Chief's daughter so far?"
Ricky eyed the girl suspiciously, "She seems like a good kid."
"Don't think she's a little too curious for her own good?" Nellie asked as she looked to her father.
Ricky sighed, "Nell, if this is about the Cullen's, I really don't care."
Penelope shook her head as she shrugged her shoulders, "Not at all."
"Mhm," Ricky said as he grabbed a box of pasta noodles.
The teenager groaned as she looked at her father with eyes of disbelief, "You're really not gonna talk about this with me? Not gonna tell me how you know or why the hell everyone's getting all secretive in the tribe?"
"I don't know what you're talking about, Pen." Ricky said as crossed the item off the listen. He began pushing the cart again, working his way through all the things they needed so he could leave the store and get a cup of coffee already.
"You're unbelievable," Nellie said as she crossed her arms over her chest. She genuinely could fathom the fact that her dad wouldn't explain anything to her, "I'm just trying to make conversation."
Ricky rolled his eyes again, trying everything in his power to not crack a smile at her behavior. Every little thing his daughter did just happened to remind him of her mother and a solemn expression fell to the older man's face.
As Nellie scanned the store for the next item on the list, her eyes just so happened to land on Billy and Jacob Black. A grin etched her features because if anyone was willing to talk about Bella Swan, it was Jacob.
She tapped her dad on the shoulder before pointing to the two and walking off after them. "Hey, Bill!" She said with a smile as she waved.
Billy Black spotted the girl immediately and smiled at her, "Hey, Nellie Belly. You and your dad grocery shopping today?"
Nellie nodded, "Yeah, dad ran out of coffee and we all know how he gets with that." Billy and Nellie laughed off the words before he turned to his son.
"Oh, Jacob, you and Nell should catch up. It's been a while since she's been by the house and I need my kid talking to someone else so you won't pine after that Swan girl." He said, waving his hand in the air as he wheeled off in the direction of the guns.
She laughed and so did he as the man took off. Once Nellie looked at Jacob, she noticed the blush on his cheeks and she laughed at him. "Don't worry, I wasn't oblivious to your crush."
He shook his head and rolled his eyes, "I don't have a crush on her. Bella's my friend."
"Yeah, I said the same about Emmett. Look where we're at now." Nellie said with a grin.
"Whatever." He said as he shoved his hands in his pockets. The two began walking outside of the store, their legs carrying them to one of the many nature trails La Push had to offer.
Nellie crossed her arms over her chest as silence fell over them. She tried to think of the best way to bring up her question but it seemed there really wasn't one. "So. what'd you and Bella talk about at the beach?"
He chuckled, "She kept asking a bunch of questions about the Cullen's and like, Cold Ones."
"Like in our legends?" Nellie furrowed her brows.
He nodded, "What the boys said yesterday had her little head spinning. She was asking all about the legends and almost seemed like she was believing what I was saying."
Nellie laughed it off because if only he knew how much just so happened to be true, "She must've been a little spooked yesterday, then."
"Maybe." Jacob said with a shrug of his shoulders, "Do you think I have a chance with Bella?"
Nellie sighed. The boys at the Reservation were like brothers to her and the last thing she wanted to do was lie and get the boys hopes up. "Okay, well, do you want me to lie to you or do you want the truth?"
This caused a frown to fall to Jacob's face. "The truth?"
She sighed before throwing her head back and looking at the boy, "You probably don't, Jake. She's got her head spinning for Edward and I seriously don't think she's letting that one up anytime soon."
His head fell and his frown deepened, "This is like middle school with Dema Marx all over again."
Nellie winced at the memory. Dema Marx. She was a grade above the boy yet any time he saw her in the halls was an immediate mood life for him. He was just about to tell the girl of his feelings when he saw her and Paul Lahote kissing in the hallways. Safe to say Paul got a long talking to by Nellie that night.
"No it's not," Nellie said as she shook her head, "because you're not going to let it get like Dema Marx. You're going to move on and let Bella be her own person. Jake, you deserve someone who wants you as bad as you want them."
"Like you and Emmett?" He asked as his brown eyes met hers.
She smiled. "Like me and Emmett. Don't settle for less."
He smiled back at the girl. "Thanks, Nell. You're a pretty great big sister even if we aren't related."
She grinned at the boy, "I'm pretty great at everything," as he rolled his eyes, she laughed, "alright, we should get going. Our dads are gonna have strokes trying to find us."
