━━━━━━━━━━EMMETT WAS POSSIBLY THE WORST PERSON TO EVER WRAP GIFTS.
Any time Nellie would pass him one to wrap, it looked like a heap of shit. She'd end up having to redo it herself which literally just made the process all that much longer than it was suppose to be.
"Okay, you're done. You are cut off from gift wrapping." Nellie said as she grabbed the gift he was currently attempting to strangle.
She gawked at her as she grabbed it from her hands and crossed his arms over his chest. "I was wrapping that one!"
"Yes, and when my dad opens his birthday gifts, I'd prefer for them to look workable." Nellie said with a raised brow and a grin on her face.
Thomas scoffed from his spot on the recliner and looked over to the couple, "I was waiting for her to take your privileges. You suck at this."
"I do not!" He gasped out like a child. Thomas just mocked his posture and Emmett smacked him.
Nellie shook her head, already growing used to the boys antics and so she continued on with what she was doing. And that's when it happened. So lightning fast that Nellie didn't even have time to process it.
Her finger sliced on the wrapping paper but she hadn't even noticed it until Emmett was speeding over to her faster than she'd ever seen something move and blocking her from a frenzied Jasper. The Cullen's were in the living room faster than Nellie could let a breath and it looked like a scene from a horror movie to her.
"Get her out of here!" Carlisle told Emmett as he and Thomas wrangled the man to the back door, his golden eyes going shades darker as he fought them off.
Rosalie looked at the two with almost a sympathetic look as her and Esme walked out to help with Jasper. Edward followed behind her but Alice was the one to stay back. She gave Emmett a look and it seemed like the two were having a silent conversation of their own before Emmett grabbed Nellie's hand and took her to her truck.
"Go home, Nell, get that cleaned. I'll see you tomorrow at school." Her eyes were filled with tears and she wanted more than anything to say something to him but she couldn't get the words out.
The truck started up but she could move. Not a single muscle in her body allowed her to pull out of that driveway until she finally snapped out of it and tears rolled down her cheeks.
She drove to La Push that night in such a state of confusion and fear that she had never been in. Nellie Donovan was scared of Emmett and she didn't even know why. She could figure out what the hell had just happened when if she tried.
As she pulled the truck into park at her house and walked into the bungalow, she was suddenly glad her father was still at work. Had the man saw her in the state she was in, she'd probably have to force him to not storm the Cullen residence.
But as Nellie sit in the darkened Donovan home, tears streaming down her face, she had no idea what to do. She had nobody with her and anyone on the Rez would just tell her father the moment they got him alone.
That's why her fingers clicked onto Jessica Stanley's contact and the phone started ringing. Jess picked up on the second ring and the only thing she heard was the ragged breathing of her best friend.
"Hey, Nell, you okay?" When Nellie didn't immediately answer, her nerves racked up as she waited for the ravenette to speak.
Finally after one last sniffle, Nellie's hoarse voice was heard, "Me and Emmett had a fight."
It was the only normal thing she could think of saying. How do you tell your best friend that your boyfriend sped to you in seconds? How do you tell her that his brother looked at you like dinner? Or how Emmett's family was dragging said brother out to the hard as if he was a dog? You don't.
Jessica dropped everything she was doing on the other end of the phone to be there for her friend. Jess could be selfish, everyone knew this. She had moments in her life where she'd forget that there were other people around her. But when it came to Nellie and Angela, she didn't care what she was doing because it didn't matter anymore.
"Oh, babe. It's gonna be okay, I promise. You and Emmett are practically meant to be." Jess' voice dropped from her normal tone. To the tone she had when the first boy broke Nellie's heart. Or when Angela's grandma passed away. It was a tone of voice that only those two girls had ever gotten out of Jessica Stanley.
Tears streamed from Nellie's face but she tried to calm herself. "I hope you're right because I love him. I know it's early but he makes me so happy, Jess."
Jessica nodded along to everything her friend said. "I'm Jessica Stanley, Nell-Nell. I'm the all-knowing bitch of Forks, Washington. I know you guys are meant to be."
That elicited a laugh from the Donovan girl and Jessica took that as a win. Nellie fiddled with her fingers as she tried to control her breathing a little more. Every time she tried to distract herself, it was filled with Emmett. Nellie couldn't process without him.
"How about you come over for the night? It'll give you someone to talk to until you and Emmett see each other again. I'll even call Angela and we can order pizza and watch your sappy movies." Jessica offered to Nellie with a smile, already getting the number pulled up for pizza.
Nellie smiled at her friend's offer because it was all she needed at the moment. She needed the people that were there for her from the start.
"Okay, sounds good," she said with a nod as she headed to her bedroom and began packing her stuff up for Jess' house, "also, my movies are not sappy."
