Vox's eyes blazed with fury as he stared at the surveillance footage. His Pawn, his loyal servant, stood alongside Alastor and Husker, their conversation laced with deceit.
"No...it can't be," Vox growled, his voice trembling with rage.
The truth dawned on him like a hammer blow: his Pawn was a traitor, secretly serving Alastor all along. Vox's mind reeled, memories of their interactions now tainted by betrayal.
With a snarl, Vox summoned his most trusted enforcer, Vex. "Bring me the Pawn. Now."
Vex nodded, disappearing into the shadows.
Vox's anger simmered, waiting to unleash its full fury upon the Pawn.
How dare he deceive me? I gave him purpose, power...
The doors to the Vee Tower burst open, and Vex dragged the Pawn before Vox.
"Kneel," Vox spat, his voice venomous.
The Pawn complied, his expression neutral, but a flicker of fear danced in his eyes.
"You lied to me," Vox hissed, his fists clenched. "You serve Alastor, not me."
The Pawn remained silent, his gaze downcast.
Vox's laughter was cold, menacing. "You think you can play both sides? I'll show you the true meaning of loyalty."
With a wave of his hand, Vox unleashed a bolt of electricity, striking the Pawn's trembling form.
"Tell me, Pawn," Vox spat, his voice dripping with malice. "What is Alafia's true significance to Alastor?"
The Pawn's body convulsed, his screams echoing through the Vee Tower.
"I...won't...tell," he gasped, defiance etched on his face.
Vox's laughter intensified the electricity, the Pawn's body jerking violently.
"Alastor's secrets...die...with me," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Vox's face twisted in rage. "Fool!"
The electricity ceased, the Pawn slumping, broken.
Vox turned to Vex. "Summon Velvet and Valentino. It's time to fetch Alafia."
Vex nodded, disappearing into the shadows.
Velvet and Valentino entered, their faces eager.
"Capture Alafia," Vox ordered. "Bring her to me. I'll uncover Alastor's secrets."
Velvet smiled, her eyes gleaming. "She won't know what hit her."
Valentino chuckled, his grin menacing. "We'll bring her back, Vox. Alive...or otherwise."
With a nod, the duo vanished into the shadows, bound for the living world.
Vox's gaze fell upon the Pawn, his expression cold.
"You should have talked," Vox whispered, before turning away, leaving the Pawn to his darkness.
The hunt for Alafia had begun, and Vox would stop at nothing to claim her.
