"We have to go," Lonnie said.
"But...it's so nice here." Kyle flopped onto his pink bed, almost sinking beneath its fabric. "Ah."
"Don't get too comfortable," Lonnie said. "She lied to me. How can we trust her words?"
"We just do," Kyle said. "Like the rebellion does."
"But-"
"When was the last time you had fun? Did you ever?" Kyle asked. "Can't we just wait it out?"
"Then Catra'll find out."
Rogelio protested, and Lonnie shook her head.
"I'm going," she said. "If you want to stay...be my guest, I guess."
...
Catra felt fine. She wasn't the type to feel guilty, and especially not because of Adora. So what if she had told Adora to go into a city full of smoke and trees that could put her into sleep forever? It wasn't a big deal. They weren't friend anymore, they weren't anything. Adora meant nothing to her.
She'd been wrong before. This feeling for her, it wasn't love. More...boredom, she guessed. It had to be, right? They could have been something more before all this, but now it was too late.
"Hey, Catra-"
Catras fist was quickly blocked by Scorpias claw. She didn't press down on Catra, but her face was wrinkled with worry.
"You okay, wildcat? You're jumpy."
Catra retracted her hand. "Sorry," she muttered. "I thought you were someone else."
"Did you just apologize to me?"
"No."
"Catra, you're such a sweetheart. I love you too."
Catra facepalmed. "I did not say I love you-why are you looking at me like that?"
Scorpia blushed. "Because we're bonding. I should get Entrapta-we could all get together and play board games, or-"
"I have work to do." Catra stiffened. "And so does she. After her energy suckers got destroyed, she should be working to find the next thing to stop her."
"Her?" Scorpia echoed. "You mean the rebellion?"
"Yeah." Catra scratched her ears. "I should go. I have to check on my squad. I haven't heard back from them yet."
Scorpia nodded, leaving Catra to waltz into her training rooms, where there was no squad to be found. Where were Kyle, Rogelio, and Lonnie? Even with Kyle on the team, they should be back by now.
"Guys?" She called. "If you're being lazy, then cut it out. I could replace you if you wanted-"
"I don't know about that," a voice said from behind her. "You didn't replace me."
The hairs on Catras tail stood up. Slowly, she turned around. "You," she said. "Why are you always coming back? It's like you want to get kidnapped."
"Cut the bullshit, Catra."
"Why," Catra asked. "So you can berate me and try to bully me into getting your sword back?"
"I'm surprised you're not carrying it on you."
"It's safe," if that's what you're asking." She kept her hands on her hips. "With your friend, Entrapta."
"Entrapta?"
"Oh, yeah, she makes a fine Hoard soldier." She played with her nails absently. "Much better than you were. And with that sword, we should be able to do anything-"
"Why are you like this?"
"Like what?" Catra asked. "I'm your enemy."
"Do you remember kissing me?"
"What?"
Adora took a tentative step towards her. "I went back to the crystal palace," she said. "There was a memory-along with others-that were locked behind my brain. Someone had made me forget kissing you, so I need to know now if you remember it, Catra."
"I have no idea what you're talking about." She placed her hands on her hips. "How do I know you're not lying?"
"Why would I do that?"
"Maybe to get me to go with you."
"This isn't about that!" Adora said, and she shook her head. "It's not about how I feel about you now, it's about our memories being taken from us. It's about knowing if you were choosing to stay because..."
"Because we dated?" Catra asked. "No, turns out I don't make my decisions based on what my exes do or don't do. Even if I remembered what you're claiming, I doubt it."
"Aren't you at least a little bit curious as to what you don't remember?"
"No," she said. "Because I don't believe you. You're making things up."
Adora sighed. "But what if Shadow Weaver-"
"Shadow Weaver," Catra breathed, and she pushed past Adora, into the prisons. She passed a sea of guards and prisoners, until she eventually landed o ma familiar lock. She pressed her hand to the fingerprint recognition stand, and it let her in.
Shadow Weaver didn't bother looking up at her.
"Did you erase my memory?"
She didn't respond.
"Not talking to me now, huh?" Catra kicked her. "Did you erase my memory?"
She looked up slowly. "Catra," she said. "Why would I waste my time on you and your insignificant brain?"
"Give me a straight answer," she said, dropping to sit at eye level with her. "We didn't-we weren't dating, right?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
Catra stared at her for a long moment, but couldn't find the usual trace of lie. She was usually pretty good, but Catra knew her. She knew all her tricks. "You're telling the truth," she realized. "But then...Adora's lying." She gasped. "The sword. I have to get it, now."
...
"The sword," Adora said while she was halfway home, and she facepalmed. "I should have grabbed it while I had the chance."
