Chapter four

Soobin was nervously looking around for Taehyun. As he scanned the room, he caught sight of Taehyun, talking to a group of friends near the makeshift dance floor. Even in the crowded and dimly lit room, Taehyun stood out to Soobin like a beacon.

Soobin's heart beat so fast as he slowly made his way towards Taehyun. He just hoped that Taehyun would be glad to see him, rather than annoyed.

Finally, he approached the group Taehyun was standing with. They were engaged in an animated conversation, laughing and joking around.

Soobin waited for a slight lull in the conversation before he cleared his throat to get Taehyun's attention. "Hey, Taehyun. Can I talk to you for a minute?"

Taehyun turned to look at Soobin, a slight look of surprise on his face. But to Soobin's relief, it was a pleasant surprise, not an annoyed or uninterested one.

"Oh, hey, Soobin. Yeah, sure, what's up?"Taehyun said, smiled at him.

Soobin felt a small wave of relief wash over him. Taehyun didn't seem annoyed that he had interrupted their conversation, which was a good start.

"Uh, do you mind if we talk in private for a bit?"He said, quickly glanced at Taehyun's friends, who were watching them with curious expressions.

Taehyun nodded, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. He excused himself from his friends with a brief explanation that he would be right back and followed Soobin to a quieter spot near the edge of the room.

Soobin couldn't help the butterflies in his stomach as he led Taehyun away from the lively crowd.

As they found a spot where they could have a semi-private conversation, he took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves. "So... I wanted to talk to you about something"

Taehyun looked at him patiently, seeming both curious and a bit amused by Soobin's nervous demeanor. "Okay, what's up? You look like you're about to pass out from nerves"

"Yeah, I'm a bit nervous, I guess. There's something I've been wanting to talk to you about for a while, and I just hope you won't think it's weird or anything..." Soobin said, chuckled nervously.

Taehyun's eyes were fixed on Soobin, and he leaned against the wall, waiting for him to continue.

Soobin took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was coming next. "Well, the thing is... I've been thinking about us. Our friendship, I mean. And I've been feeling, uh... a bit more than just friendly feelings towards you lately"

Taehyun's eyes widened slightly, clearly not expecting that confession. There was a moment of silent, and Soobin suddenly felt extremely vulnerable, like a deer in headlights. But before he could back down, Taehyun spoke up, a small smile on his face. "That wasn't quite what I was expecting, but... I have to admit, I've been feeling the same way"

Soobin felt like all the air had been sucked out of his lungs, replaced by a mixture of shock and elation. Did Taehyun really just say what he thought he said? "Wait, really? You... you feel the same way?"

"Yeah, I do. I've been noticing these feelings for a while now, but I wasn't sure if I should say anything or not. I didn't want to risk our friendship, you know?"Taehyun nodded, a genuine smile on his face.

Soobin let out a small relieved exhale, feeling a mixture of disbelief and joy. This was better than he could have hoped.

"I feel the same way. I didn't want to mess up our friendship either, so I was hesitant to say anything. But I just..." He took a step closer to Taehyun, not wanting to keep any distance between them. "I just couldn't hold these feelings in any longer"
