AUTHOR'S PREFACE

Around 2018-2019, I discovered the existence of the Dollanganger series but I did not start reading any of the books, most notably the first: Flowers in the Attic, until six to five years later. I have a fleeting yet endearing habit of being inspired to create something after having consumed media on a certain topic myself. Reading that despondent book urged my brain to start thinking of how to insert my characters into a similar narrative.

Immersed deeply in the depressing, saddening and soul-draining environment that Flowers in the Attic had, I had a kind of proclivity to wallow in that melodrama and recreate my own, not to mention the delectable writing from Andrews giving me a boost of energy to sit down and write something for once.

This book, a kind of forbidden step-child born from the womb of the Dollanganger series, serves no real purpose other than to portray the needlessness of another kind of unbridled and more infamous hate towards people—one that I believe will be easy to understand to go against.

[This book will be fully published when proper proofreading, beta-reading and editing has been done.]

AUTHOR'S WARNINGS

This book contains mature themes, it's impossible to stop any sneaky bairn here from reading this, but please turn away now if any of the listed themes here bring you great discomfort:

Physical Abuse, depictions of trauma: mentions of whipping and wounds left by the whip

Mentions of racism: Usage of slurs, and statements that can affect people personally.

The number 1 star: Incest!!! This is born from the inspiration of the Dollanganger Series, so this was obviously going to be here.

I also want to make it very clear that I condone absolutely zero of the warnings this book is telling you about; there should be abhorrence towards abuse, racism and incest. Additionally, if you are not very media literate and can only take information from surface level, this book will only serve to disappoint and disgust you and I suggest you do not flip any further. Read at your own discretion.

And finally, I must warn you that if you've been used to the quick-reading, skimming, nature of most books here on Wattpad, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment with this particular book of mine. This contains large walls of text reminiscent to literary classics that go on and on about a subject, yap forever, and are a general hassle to get through. I can't promise that the boring descriptive nature of the literary classics is absent in my work, so brace yourself accordingly.

Love,
Milo Arnette.
