Echos Of A Broken Home

Chapter 1: Prologue

Adrian's POV:

Have you ever wished of having two amazing parents a kid could ask for? I wished the same thing too. But I think it's a good chance to explain my whole backstory. Let me introduce myself. My name's Adrian, son of an brilliant billionaire names Kaden. Well, former son, that so-called billionaire doesn't deserve to be called "Dad". Why? I'll tell you. It all started at the hospital where my mom Allison was about to give birth to me.



Allison: *is breathing heavily while her husband and the nurses are taking her to the delivery room* On the scale of 1 to 10, THIS FUCKING HURTS!!!!!

Kaden: *is holding her hand* Hang in there, honey. It'll be over soon.

Doctor: *stops Kaden* I'm sorry, sir, but you're gonna have to wait in the waiting room.

Kaden: Why, is there something wrong  with my wife? *is worried and concerned*

Doctor: Your wife might be in terrible condition, we'll do everything we can to help her deliver the baby. You may take a seat.

Kaden: I understand. Thank you. *heads to the waiting room then takes a seat*

The doctor stopped him from heading inside the delivery room cause my mother was in terrible condition so they sent him to the waiting room. But when the nurses gave him some devastating news, things got horribly worse.



*an hour later*

Kaden: *is still sitting on his seat, getting worried about Allison then notices the nurse coming by*

Nurse: *comes by* Kaden?

Kaden: *gets up and out from his seat* Y-Yes. Is Allison doing okay? *is concerned about his wife*

Nurse: *sighs* I got some devastating news... You're wife...She passed away.

Kaden: *is shocked to hear that Allison's death* Wha... W-What happened?!

Nurse: *looks down then does a nose sigh* She died due to losing a lot of blood... We tried everything we can to save her, but it was too late... But your newborn son survived during the birth. I'm very sorry for your loss...

Kaden: *gets down on his knees, looking down on the floor while getting tears in his eyes* Allison...

Nurse: I'll give you a moment to say goodbye to your wife and meet your newborn son.. *walks away, feeling awful for Kaden*

Kaden was very quiet and didn't have the courage to say goodbye to my mother before a service can come and pick her up. When he look at me, he looked super angry, thinking that I'm the reason why my mother died. He was very quiet at the funeral too, he was so focused on getting revenge on me for killing my mother. He's a heavy drinker and drug user, he would drink alcohol and take a bunch of drugs to cope with the loss of my mother. When he first took me home, he would scream at my face and beat me with his belt. He blames me for a lot of his problems, for my mom dying and for ruining his life. I believed every word he said to me. I blamed myself for everything. I called the police on him numerous times, but the cops believed that I was lying and making stuff up. My dad would lie to them and told them that he was using discipline on me, and they believed him, which it made me lose trust for the police. School wasn't the best either. The kids would taunt and make fun of me for being a wimp. In fact, my school bully, Xavier, and his friends would beat me, give me wedgies and shove me inside lockers.



*10 years later, at school*

Adrian: *lands on the ground after getting beat up by Xavier and his friends* OOF!!!

Xavier: Oh, we're not done with you, freak! *grabs Adrian then shoves him inside a locker*

Crimson: *cheers for Xavier* Yeah, Xavier!

Veronica: We'll see you tomorrow, loser. Come on guys. Let's grab ourselves a soda pop.

Xavier: Good idea, Veronica. *leaves with his friends*

Adrian: *is trying to get out from inside the locker then manages to unlock the door then gets out quickly then sadly sighs* God, why do you hate me...? *picks up his backpack*



Xavier and his friends bully me for years, they would frame me for everything by telling on Miss Estelle, who is the principal of the school. She's very mean and cruel towards me, she does not care for my well-being, she cares about her stupid reputation. At one point, she would spank me with a paddle. Whenever I told her the truth, she never believes me.



Estelle: *comes by, looking very disappointed* There you are, young man. Xavier told me that you got into a fight with him for no reason.

Adrian: I-I haven't- 

Estelle: Talking back and lying to me I see, huh? Well, I'll see you at detention tomorrow. *walks off*

Adrian: *sighs sadly again* Why does everybody at this school hate me...? *starts to walk home*

*30 minutes later, at Kaden's mansion*

Adrian: *heads inside* Dad, I'm home. *heads to the living room to find Kaden sitting on the couch, looking very angry*

Kaden: There you are, you brat. Do you have my beer?

Adrian: *is getting scared* I-I'm ten years old, I'm not old enough to buy beer-

Kaden: *gets up and out from his couch* You back-talking me?! *goes over then slaps Adrian in the face*

Adrian: *falls to the ground after being slapped* AH!

Kaden: *angrily yells at Adrian* Learn your place, you little shit! I can't believe I have to raise a worthless waste of space like you! It's your fucking fault that my wife is dead! If it weren't for you, she'd still be alive! I should've left you at the goddamn hospital to rot... *heads to the other room, slamming his door*

Adrian: *gets back up with tears in his eyes, looking down at the floor* 

*at midnight*

Adrian: *is wrapping bandages around his arm then looks at his reflection on the broken mirror* He's right.... If it weren't for me, Mama would be alive.... *wipes away his tears then gets an idea* Well then, if everybody wants me gone for good, then I'll make their wish come true.... *grabs out his backpack, starts to empty out his school supplies then packs up his clothes, sketchbooks and crayons*



At this point, I knew I have to leave. Away from my "father", away from the prison I call home, away from the school who don't care about me, away from the bullies who tormented me. I even stole $2000 from my father in order to pay for food to survive. And I can't bare to take the pain from my dad's fiancée Aileen, who is Xavier's mom. She framed me for stealing Kaden's money and my mother's jewelry, Kaden took her side and beat me for it. After I was done packing my stuff, I crawled out of the window and ran, vowing to never return to the city ever again.
