OLIVIA!

i turned around, looking down the dim streets of hawkin from my doorstep at the call of my name. the lamp posts were flickering intensely until one of them gave up. i left one eye open and opened my front door.

my eyes were quite frankly concerned when i saw my mother bundled up into the couch chair with a bunch of christmas lights tangled in her hand. the whole house was filled with lamps and torches all over the floor and their cover being taken off.

"will?" she mummered as i got closer trying to hear her speak better. "will, sweetheart i know it's you.."

"mom?" i questioned, concern upbringing as i walked towards her, her head hung low. i could not even believe she was in this state. she was so vunerable yet she was still acting tough because she knows that her will is out there, i know that too.

"oh sweety." she sighed as she realised who it was when i had emerged from the darkness when one of the lights had lit up all of the sudden.  her eyes lit up, "will─ he's talking to with this lights" she frantically pointed me the lights that she was holding in her hands.

part of me wanted to believe that he was but ── logically how could he speak to her through the lost unless he was in another world ── that didn't even make sense. i sighed slowly, dropping down on my knees "he's talking you to through these?"

she nodded briefly, "yeah.. yeah.'

"will, baby your sister is here.." she spoke loudly, loudly enough that the whole room echoed.

"show her what you showed me will, please" she looked like she was begging for someone to believe her at this point and i really wanted to but nothing happened. everything was still and i was confused to the core.

"maybe its the electricity issues, ma" i said, sighing as she got up, slightly pushing me aside.

"no, NO" she kind of yelled back as she got up adjusting and mummuring to the lights. the house was extremely dim for the night and with all the lights off, it was soon to get darker.

"olivia-- see i told you, the lights they speak" she mumbled the last part incoherently as i raised my eye brow, stroding towards her.

"they wha-"

"nevermind." she immediately cut me off and proceeded to sit back in her chair, mummering to herself again. my mother's eye bag's had gotten worse, it was much duller than the day before and her hair was pinned up in a mess.

i started walking back towards my room to change out before i turned around the corridoor i heard my mother call me out, "HONEY!" she yelled.

i peeked, my eyes threatening to fall asleep as they dropped slowly. "head to school tomorrow yeah?"

i opened my eyes immediately, "mom but will-- i CAN help" she shooked her head sternly, and i gave up instantly. she always thought for everybody but did anyone think for her.

i crawled into my bed, not even caring to change out of my clothes. i just wanted to have a shut eye and let my mind rest for a couple hours. it was not long after, that the mummers from mother down the hall turned into snoring, my eyes shutting.

i swear if it wasn't for mr lee's chemistry lecture on chemicals, i would have dropped my head down onto my table and float away. i started at the blackboard as the chalk hit it, screeching while the teacher wrote against it.
