9: Phone calls

"Hia?"

Zee's voice echoed as soon as Nunew picked up his call. Nunew kept silent. He doesnt want to embarrass himself even more.

"You called me Hia"
Zee said again.

Nunew sighed and decided to change the topic.

"You should buy a better joke book phi"
Nunew told him

"Aw. Why did you come back to phi?"

"Because you are older than me? And im being respectful?"
Nunew answered him.

"But I like being Hia."
Zee whined.

"I want to be Hia"
Zee said again.

Nunew fell silent. He doesnt really know how to respond to that.

"Nhu?"
Zee calls him.

Nunew sighed and bit his lower lip. He lied on his back and covered his eyes with his arm

"Why?"
Nunew asked

"What why?"

"Why are you insisting on being called Hia."
Nunew bluntly asked

"Because I like the distinction between me and somebody else."
Zee's deep voice does wonders to Nunew's heart

"It feels special"
Zee said again making Nunew speechless.

Why is he being like this?

Nunew questions in his head

"Am I making you uncomfortable?"
Zee carefully asked but Nunew stayed silent.

Am I? Am I umcomfortable with calling him as such? But Im the one who said it first. Am I uncomfortable? Or am I just scared?
Nunew creates a monologue in his head.

"Tell you what, you can just forget about it. Im sorry for pushing you."
Zee softly told Nunew.

"Im..... im not uncomfortable"
Nunew suddenly replied to Zee.

"But you're hesitant. Its okay, I understand"
Zee told Nunew.

"No, I-"

"Daddy! I want to talk to teacher Nunew too!"
Lizzie's voice interrupted the two.

"Hold on a second Liz, teacher Nunew was about to say something"

Nunew heard Zee say. He shakes his head and smiled to himself

He sure is patient.

"Did you call because Lizzie wants to talk to me?"
Nunew asked as he chuckles

"Well partly yes, but its also because I was being too lazy to type too."
Zee told him making Nunew laugh more.

"Daddy!"
Lizzie called for Zee again

"Just wait a second baby."
Zee sighed.
"She wont sleep without saying good night to you. She wanted to make sure you're okay"
Zee told her.

They sure are really alike.
Nunew smiled at the thought of the two worrying about him.

"Hia, just pass the phone to Lizzie"
Nunew finally told Zee.

"What did you say?"
Zee asked as if he didnt hear it clearly.

"Hia I know you heard me, now can you please let me talk to princess?"

"Okay!"
Zee said back sounding a bit way too happy over the phone.

Nunew shakes his head.

Is he this cute when he's at work? Or is he just like this with people he's comfortable with?
