Taehyung: I can't believe this is how it went down. After months of sleepless nights, cramming for exams, group projects that almost made me lose my mind... and for what?
He rolled in his bed, huffing with annoyance.
Taehyung: I thought this would be a big deal. I mean, everyone else had parties... cake, families, congratulations pouring in. But me? Just me lying here, scrolling through my phone, watching the world pass by.
He sat up, running a hand through his hair, looking around the room as if he's hoping for his family to magically appear.
Taehyung: Mom could've at least said something. Maybe a small gathering? Just a little acknowledgment of all the late nights and stress. But no...
He threw the phone onto the bed in frustration, almost silently shouting into the emptiness of his room. He picked up his graduation cap and tossed it lightly into the air before catching it.
Taehyung: Where's my fanfare? Where's the moment where everyone cheers and lifts me up? Just a simple Congratulations, Tae! would've sufficed. Instead, I guess I'm just... not memorable enough.
He glanced at a message from one of his friends, a simple congratulatory text. He opened it, reading it aloud, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Taehyung: Congrats on graduating! Let's hang out soon.
A sigh escaped his lips as he tossed the phone back down.
Taehyung: Hang out soon? What does that even mean?
He flopped back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling, his thoughts swirling.
Taehyung: I could've planned something... but I shouldn't have to, right?
Suddenly, the sound of laughter was heard from outside. He peeked out the window to see a group of classmates from school gathered in one of the neighbor's backyard, celebrating with their families. They had a cake, banners, and loud music.
Taehyung: Look at them. All smiles and memories in the making while I sit here wallowing. Did I not deserve that?
He sat up again, clenching his fists.
Taehyung: It's not about the party... it's about recognition! Just wanting to be seen, to be celebrated.
He stood up, pacing the room, the weight of the moment pressing down on him.
Taehyung: I'm happy for them... I really am. But why does it hurt so much? Why does it feel like my achievement is just... a quiet whisper in the wind? I mean yeah I haven't got the results yet but graduating is also a big thing. There are students who didn't even get to graduate .
He stopped pacing, taking a deep breath.
Taehyung: It's not just about the celebration. It's about feeling understood, feeling valued. I just wanted to share this moment with everyone. Not to ask for a parade, but just... something.
He plopped back down onto the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. The sound from the party faded away, leaving him in his own thoughts.
Taehyung: I guess I'll throw my own party... one for me. I'll celebrate all that I've accomplished, even if it's just me, a pizza, and a movie. What I feel matters, right?
As a small smile began to form on his face, he picked up his phone, tapped a few buttons, and started looking for movie listings.
Taehyung: Here's to being my own cheerleader. Because sometimes, you have to celebrate yourself when no one else will.
