── .✦ I've noticed not a lot has changed with Mike and El. They act completely normal, like they didn't just break up. I'll admit, it makes me a tiny bit jealous when Mike decides to sit over near El instead of near me. He turns into a completely different person than the one he is when he's only with me.
He treats me like he loves me, but then acts like it's casual when someone is near us. I don't know if I should be worried, or if this is a bad thing, but it's making me a little...angry. But I don't want to be angry! I shouldn't be angry.
"Hey Will, is everything okay?" I snap out of my trance when I hear Johnathan walk up to the doorframe. He leans on it, giving me a concerned look. I look up from my sketchbook, closing it and pushing it to the side.
"Well, to be honest, not really." I mumble, picking at my fingers nervously. He frowns, taking a step further into the room.
"If you want to talk about it, you know I'm always here." He says, smiling at me. I nod silently, looking down at the desk. Johnathan takes a seat on the bed, and I can hear him sigh.
"Well, I know I should keep it secret because Mike told me too, but fuck that." I scrunch my brows, turning around in my chair to look at Johnathan. "The truth is, me and Mike are dating. Or, at least, that's what I think it is. I should be happy because I mean wow! The person I've had a crush on for years and years finally likes me back!" I start to ramble.
"But it damn sure doesn't seem like it. He avoids me in public, he acts like we're just friends the whole time but when everyone leaves the room now suddenly he's making out with me and telling me he loves me?!" I raise my voice, and I clench my fists as I think about all the times Mike has made me feel upset.
"And I know I shouldn't force him to come out or anything, but it seems like he's ashamed to be with me. Like everyone will abandon him if they found out. And apparently, Mike and El are still better then ever, and they still act like a couple. It's fucked." I finish. Johnathan stays quiet, and he just stares at me.
I turn back to the desk, and rest my head in my hands. "I just don't know what to do about it." I say.
"Have you tried talking to Mike about how your feeling?" He suggests.
"Not really. I can tell it's stressful for him." I sigh, running a hand through my hair. "Ack!" I shout as I feel a sharp pain in the back of my head. I reach my hand up to my nose, wiping the blood.
"Maybe you're just a monster. You are ruining his life." Johnathan shouts. I twist around to look at him, widening my eyes. His voice gets distorted, and the pain in my head is getting more intense. I shut my eyes and pray for it to be over as Johnathan yells in my ear.
Suddenly, it all stops. I can't hear Johnathan anymore, and my headache is gone. I decide it's safe to open my eyes, and I jump as I see the room dimmed, completely covered in vines and tentacles.
"Johnathan?!" I yell, getting up from my chair to look around frantically. I gasp as I trip on one of the vines, falling to the floor.
"Will." A familiar yet scary voice calls out. "I can tell you are distressed. This can all go away." I hear footsteps coming my way, and I quickly realize it's another one of those visions like the one at the roller rink. I scramble to my feet, and I look around for an exit.
I rush out the door and run as fast as I can in the opposite direction of the footsteps. My heart pounds in my chest, and I glance over my shoulder to see a dark figure following me.
"Shit." I quicken my pace, eager to find a way out of this nightmare. "Let's hope Johnathan will know what to do." I mutter to myself as I dash towards the woods.
I find a huge rock, and I quickly duck down and hide behind it. The footsteps get quieter until the only thing I can hear is my rapid breathing. I inhale sharply, and my heartbeat slows back down.
After I calm down, I glance around at my surroundings. A bunch of trees are crowded around me, with those creepy black vines spiraling up them. I hear a noise in the distance which sounds like some sort of creature flying in the sky.
I sigh deeply, trying to think of a plan. There must be a way out of here, right? Maybe I can find a gate or something like that. I prepare myself to stand up and run, still hearing the faint roars of nearby monsters.

── .✦ "Hey El." I approach her in the hallway, hoping to talk about what happened at the mall, and how she thinks we're a couple again now. She looks up at me and smiles brightly. I stop in front of her, and she turns to face me.
"Hey Mike." She says happily. She goes in for a hug, wrapping her arms around my neck. Because I feel bad about what I'm going to say to her, I accept the hug.
"So, I need to talk to you about something." I say, pulling away from her. She frowns, giving me a confused look as she steps back.
"What is it?" I hear the nervousness in her voice, which makes me dread this more and more. I really don't want to hurt her feelings.
What if this is all wrong? What if El and I are meant to be together, and the thing between me and Will should've never happened? What if? "Well, I-"
"Um, guys?!" I hear a voice shout from the top of the stairs. "Will's not moving and it's kind of freaking me out." Johnathan yells. Me and El share a concerned glance before rushing up the stairs.
We meet Johnathan at the top and he guides us to my room. I slowly walk in, immediately noticing Will sitting at the desk. Me and El approach him, and I walk closer to get a better look at him.
He sits on the chair frozen, with his eyes looking so far upwards you can only see the white parts. My eyes widen in shock and fear as I watch his eyes twitch and shake.
"Johnathan, what the fuck happened?!" I yell, feeling my stomach do flips inside my body.
"I-I don't know! He was telling me about..." Johnathan suddenly trails off, and it seems like he was stopping himself from saying something he shouldn't. "He was telling me about something and then he just stopped talking. I didn't notice something was wrong until I asked him a question and he didn't answer." Johnathan explains.
I nod, turning back to Will. "Hey, Will, can you hear me?" I call. "Will, are you there? What's happening to you?" I place my hand on his shoulder in an attempt to maybe comfort him.
"It's like he's in some sort of trance." El pipes in. "Like..."
"A spell." I finish for her. If this was true, what could be causing this? Is it connected to what happened at the roller rink? Suddenly, it all clicks. "El, didn't Will say when we were at the mall that there was this creature who was talking to him in the Upside Down?"
"Yeah. He did." El answers, realizing what I'm saying. "Maybe that creature is causing this?" I step back from Will, turning to El with a serious face.
"We need to gather everyone here right now."
