The High Priest's Princess

Chapter Five

I looked around, "Evy, I believe we are in a secret passage." Evy took deep breaths, "You might be right." Moaning sounded from behind us and we both turned to see Mr. Burns. Evy sighed in relief, "Oh, Mr. Burns. Thank goodness. We were starting to get scared. We've seemed to have lost everyone." Mr. Burns turned around, "My eyes. My eyes." Evy and I turned the other way and a creature came from the dark, snarling at Evy, not noticing me. Evy screamed and backed into a wall as the mummified corpse of Imhotep stalked towards her. Evy looked at Mr. Burns, "Please help me." 

Imhotep turned back to Mr. Burns as he tried to talk, "My tongue. He took my tongue." I took deep breaths and stayed in the shadows, selfishly waiting to see what happened. Imhotep turned back to Evy and narrowed his eyes, "Anck-Su-Namun?" I teared up and rushed forward, guarding my sister, "No!" Imhotep's eyes widened, "Hathor? My love?" Evy was standing there confused about why I was speaking to him. I teared up, "You do not love me. You have chosen your path." Imhotep snarled and glared at Evy, pointing at her, "That witch ruined everything! I need to resurrect her to make her second life miserable." I was now confused, "She is your love." Imhotep shook his head and walked to me, setting a decaying hand on my face, "It's a long story, Hathor. Come with me my Princess Hathor. I will explain everything." 

Imhotep held a hand out to me and Rick came into view, "There you two are! Will you guys quit playing hide-and-seek? Come on! Let's get out of here!" Evy pointed to me and Rick screamed, "Whoa!" Jonathan ran in and screamed too, "Whoa!" Rick grabbed my arm and Imhotep grew angry, roaring at Rick, causing Rick to roar back and shoot him, dragging Evy and me along as he ran. 

We ran outside and the Medjai were there, pointing their guns at us. The leader gestured for another to come grab me. Jonathan glared, "Let go of my sister!" The leader glared back, "I told you to leave or die. You refused. Now, you have put the Princess in danger and may have killed us all, for you have unleashed a creature we have feared for more than three thousand years." Rick glared at him, "Relax. I got him. Now, give back Lady Hathor. And quit calling her a princess." The leader sneered, "No mortal weapon can kill this creature. We need to make sure he does not get his hands on the Lady Hathor. He's not of this world." 

Two Medjai brought forward Mr. Burns and handed him to the two other Americans. Daniels glared at the leader, "You bastard." Henderson glared as well, "What did you do to him?" The leader shook his head, "We saved him. Saved him before the creature could finish his work. Leave, all of you, quickly, before he finishes you all." He gestured to all his followers and then carefully guided me to my brother, "I must now go on the hunt, and try and find a way to kill him." Rick sneered, "I already told you, I got him."

The leader stopped and stared at Rick, "Know this, this creature is the bringer of death. He will never eat, he will never sleep, and he will never stop. Not until he finishes his revenge and finds his love. Keep the Princess close to you. At. All. Times."

Imhotep's POV

I pulled my hand back as the man started speaking, "The language of the slaves. I may have use for you. And the rewards...will be great." I opened my hand to show the man and he looked greedy. I stared at the sarcophagus behind him and felt sorrow for what I did all those years ago. But Princess Hathor was here. She is as beautiful as I remember. Her confusion hurt me when she believed I loved that beastly woman. She has her memories back. She is my Hathor. No matter who she was on this earthly plane, she remembers me. I held up a broken sacred jar, "Where are the other jars!? Where is my Princess!?"

Hathor's POV

I stared behind me sadly as we all rode off into the night, whispering, "Imhotep." Imhotep responded softly, "Hathor. I only love you. She will be gone from our lives and I will explain everything. I'll see you soon, my love."
