The High Priest's Princess

Chapter Six

I sighed as I sat in a chair in Evy's and my room, thinking about what had happened as Rick and Evy argued. "I thought you said you didn't believe in that fairy tales and hokum stuff. Shoo!" Rick snapped at the cat and Evy took it off her luggage chest, "Having an encounter with a three thousand walking, talking corpse does tend to convert one. By the way, Hathor, we still need to talk." Rick nodded, "She's right. But! Forget it. We're out the door, down the hall, and we're gone." Evy shook her head, "Oh, no, we are not." Rick put Evy's clothes in her luggage, "Oh, yes, we are." Evy took the clothes out, "Oh, no, we are not. We woke him up, and we are going to stop him." 

Rick put more things in her luggage, "We? What we? We didn't read that book. I told you not to play around with that thing. Hathor told you. Didn't I tell you? Hathor, didn't I tell her?" Evy took the books out, "Yes, right then, me, me, me. I, I, I woke him up and I intend to stop him." Rick raised an eyebrow, "Yeah? How? You heard the man. No mortal weapons can kill this guy and until Hathor speaks, we don't know why the same man said for us not to let Hathor near the corpse!"

Evy nodded, "Then we are just going to have to find some immortal ones." Rick placed his hands on the edge of the luggage, "There goes that we again." Evy sighed, "Look, will you listen to me? We have to do something!" Evy slammed the luggage shut on Rick's finger and I hissed in pain for him as she didn't stop speaking, "Once this creature has been reborn, his curse is going to spread until the whole of the Earth is destroyed." Rick glared at her, "Yeah? Is that my problem?" Evy nodded, "It is everybody's problem." Rick sighed, "Evelyn, I appreciate you saving my life and all, but when I signed on, I agreed to take you out there and to bring you back. I have done that. End of job. End of story. Contract terminated."

Evy sounded hurt, "That's all I am to you? A contract?" Rick pointed at her, "You can either tag along with me or you can stay here and try and save the world. What's it gonna be?" Evy was determined, "I'm staying." They both said fine back and forth before Rick left the room. Evy sighed and I smiled, "Ah, young love." Evy gave me a look, "What love? He's infuriating." I smiled knowingly, "For now."

Evy and I chatted as we walked through the fort before Rick found us. Rick sounded panicked, "Oh, Evelyn! Hathor that won't explain! We've got problems." Lightning flashed and I gasped as balls of fire rained from the sky. The three of us ran to a set of stairs when I heard a whimper and Rick turned around to find Beni, "Beni, you little stinkweed. Where you been?" Imhotep roared and I looked to where it was coming from, "Imhotep." Imhotep responded, "Hathor." Rick glared at me, "You will be explaining!" The three of us ran into a room and Evy gasped softly to see Mr. Burn's skeleton sitting in a chair. 

I watched as Imhotep started to rejuvenate and Rick looked scared, "We are in serious trouble." Imhotep looked at me and marched towards us as Rick started to shoot him. Imhotep shoved Rick into the two Americans and Jonathan, just leaving Evy and I. Imhotep glanced at Evy, "You saved me from the undead. I thank you, but you will not thank me. You will pay for your crimes against my Princess."  Evy ran over to Rick and our brother, but Imhotep didn't pay attention to her. I tried to stay stern with Imhotep, but I couldn't. I smiled softly, ghosting my hand over his cheek. "What happened that night, my love?" 

Imhotep shakily sighed, "Anck-Su-Namun threatened you and told me that she would marry you off if I didn't love her as I loved you." I frowned, "She has no power to do that, Imhotep." Imhotep had tears in his eyes, "I understood that as soon as your father told me." I felt betrayed, "Did you kill my father?" Imhotep teared up more, "I was tricked, my love. I have to get revenge. For you. I-"

Evy's cat meowed and Imhotep roared, turning into sand and drifting away. I stood there dumbfounded and the group looked at me, "Explanation! Now!"
