SIDDHARTH

"I think it would be better if you leave a little more space in the back" I say.

She lifts her head to look up at me. We have been reviewing her ideas and drawings for the past 2 hours. She really is talented. And I just realised that I want more than to just sell this house. I have a vision for how this house should look.

My mother once had an architecture company in this very town. Maybe she was onto something when she said that I would be able to build her dream house someday. That I would take over her small dream company and make it reach hights. But that never happened nor will it ever. This would be my first and last attempt at doing something that would have brought her happiness.

"I was thinking of the same thing but I thought you wouldn't like It much since you had asked for a modern setting for the house." she says.

And like always my eyes get locked on her lips as she speaks. There is something about her that keeps attracting me. I wouldn't have stayed so long. Nor would I be here giving my inputs on a house that I shouldn't even care about. But here I am.

"I have changed my mind now. Lets go with whatever changes we have made so far. If you could combine all the ideas and present it by tomorrow then we can send it for approval." I say standing up.

"Yes sir. I will be able to present it by tomorrow. I have an idea of what you want thanks to the input you have provided so far." she says

I nod and walk away when she speaks in an unsure voice.

"It felt good working with you. And I'm sorry about my behaviour earlier."

I know I should acknowledge what she said and respond. But I don't. I pretend to not have heard anything and leave.

I don't understand why her words affect me as much as they do. Why her insistence on calling me Sir even though I had asked her to call me by my name irks me so much. But I do realise that I have to stay as far away as I can from her.

At the guest house

Its been an hour since I have arrived. Annika tried her level best to not make her curiosity show but I could almost taste her frustration. Its was a moment of weakness that I couldn't allow myself anymore. At that time seeing the dried blood spot on the floor had reopened the worst wounds. It was almost like I was able to see everything that happened in real time.

I open my laptop to check on the updates of the company. Everything was going pretty smoothly so far, I knew I could trust Aaryan and Shaym.

3 hours and 2 coffee cups later, I finally finished replying to all my mails. It was currently 8pm and I realised that I had told Annika that I would be sending her the picture of the house to use as a reference. Though I don't think she would need that anymore since we had decided on everything to the T but I sent it anyway.
