Chapter Fourteen: 'Lil Paigey
JFK International Airport
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
21 September, 2023Having to wake up early for a flight had to be Noa's least favourite part of a job she had to travel for. Seven a.m. flights meant five a.m. alarms, but she was knocked straight back to sleep the moment Keagan's foot floored the pedal to the airport. Paige hopped onto the car with Yolanda soon after Noa had, the woman was already dead asleep in a black hoodie with her hair slicked back into a neat claw-clipped bundle.
The flight was relatively easy, since Noa's social battery was so drained from exhaustion she had slept the entirety of every second she didn't have to be awake.
Paige followed suit, only chatting with Yolanda with Roy occasionally joining their discussion. There were a few of Noa's security team tailing them the whole way, but the slight was up to them. Business class, of course, was a joy, especially when Roy and Yolanda were seated rows in front of them while the world's recently reported couple settled into their own area.
Now, in-air and on route to the big apple, Noa was unfortunately awake and stuffed with a bag of chips sitting open in front of her. Paige didn't know how to strike a conversation, she didn't want to risk turning the woman's grouchy morning mood worse. Eventually, with one side of her headphones popped back, she turned to see the younger looking out the window with her hood gloved over her head snugly.
"Excited to see anyone, superstar?"
Noa grumbled, her eyes shutting. She fisted chips into her mouth. "Not really," she murmured through a muffled voice. "I already miss my bed."
"Come on, you're bound to know some names at the premiere. Didn't you say we were sitting next to Billie Eilish? Aren't you friends with her?"
It was obvious Paige urged for conversation, and though Noa was not a morning person, she began talking.
"Yeah. We've been in talks about a collaborative song on my upcoming album, but we didn't have time to like coordinate anything." Noa sighed, bunching the mouth to her bag of chips shut before sinking into her seat. "One of the songs on Hotline, Lunch—the one I was in the booth recording that day you say in—was actually given to me by Billie and Finneas. She scrapped it before Hit Me Hard and Soft came out so she decided I should have it. Y'know, with a woman loving brand and all."
