riley blinked at herself in the mirror, applying mascara. she did her hair in a half bun with 2 strands out at the front. she cleaned her snake bites that she had gotten recently, her septum, and her gauges. her eyebrow piercing didn't need cleaning because she got it over a year ago and it was fully healed, opposing to the rest.
unlike riley who was practically ready, Charlie was scrambling to find clothes. "FUCK! I can't find anything to wear" Charlie groaned into her hands, sighing afterwards and hearing riley chuckle at her frustration. "not funny" Charlie angrily grumbled, holding out a nice white cropped singlet, loose jeans, and a flannel. "is this okay?" charlie asked, waiting for approval.
"it looks lovely." riley smiled, fixing up her hair. she was wearing a delicately patterned white dress, almost tablecloth material with a floral embroidery at the edge of the dress and a light green cardigan with faint flowers. "I don't know.. oh here!" Charlie debated, and held up a rose - patterned long sleeve shirt, with red jeans.
"perfect! now i just gotta do my hair, brush my teeth and we can go on our official date" charlie giggled and danced her shoulders around excitedly. riley grabbed the alcohol from the side of her bed and sneakily took a sip. "why do you always drink? like before we go somewhere?" charlie asked, a plain, almost dissapointed face. "cause.. i can?" riley replied, smiling sarcastically. "Don't get mad at me because i have a problem with you drinking, EVERY time we go out somewhere nice?" charlie snapped back.
"why does it bother you so much that i drink?" riley asked angrily. "probably because i try to do something nice, and you go off and drink. you're hardly ever sober when we go out and i fucking hate it. just this one time can i have riley speaking and not the alcohol?" charlie yelled, getting up and walking towards riley, who was hastily looking at her.
"its MY choice whether i drink or not and if you got such an issue then you can suck it up because its MY body and you can't control that!" riley growled back, stepping closer to charlie, until they were face to face. "you're a fucking addict Riley." Charlie roared at riley, pushing her hard. "what the fuck do you mean? all because i drink you want to get mad? if i drink occasionally im not an addict, why cant you get that? i know you got issues but why are you getting up at me for something you cant control and wont ever?" riley snarled aggressively
Charlie's face dropped, and her blood boiled, she balled her fists tight, and felt the tears flooding her face. "you, don't EVER. bring up my issues" charlie demanded, swinging at Riley's face in anger. "oh so its alright for you to talk about mine? like we have some double standards? you know others have problems too. its not like the world is gonna stop just for you charlie. WHY CANT YOU GET THAT?" riley pushed charlie back, her tripping over on the bed and falling back, smashing a glass cup.
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU ARE SICK. I TRUSTED YOU WITH MY PROBLEMS AND YOU GO AND FUCK THAT TRUST UP? I HATE YOU." charlie spilled out, an unmistakable look on her face of pure fury
"IM FUCKING LEAVING. DON'T TALK TO ME UNTIL YOU CAN GATHER YOUR SHIT AND PULL YOUR FUCKING HEAD IN." charlie screamed, getting up and grabbing her phone before slamming the door shut. tears threatened to fall out of her eyes, people from other rooms looking out of their windows when she walked down the steps, wiping her face. she dialed Jay's number and called it, tesrs falling down her face.
C: jay?
charlie asked, her voice shakyJ: hello- oh hi charlie!
jay replied happily, unaware of the situation.C: can i come over. i need to get away from riley.
charlie asked quietly.J: oh my god what happened?
jay frantically asked, shuffling around and waking up ellie.C: I'll explain when i get there..
charlie tried to stop herself from sobbing right there.J: okay, come quick.
jay made sure charlie would be quick and hung up.charlie walked swiftly to the elevator, she didn't have the energy for the steps. charlie pressed the 2nd floor button, waiting for the elevator to come to a familiar stop, like the one she felt a couple months ago, when she was coming to the campus first. charlie walked slowly to the first room, Jay and Ellie's.
she knocked hesitantly, but when she did, the door flung open and she was embraced by ellie and jay, bringing her inside and closing the door. charlie sobbed softly into Ellie's shoulder, soaking her green long sleeve shirt. "what happened honey?" Jay questioned, concerned.
Charlie sat down in their bean bag, guided by Ellie and Jay. "tell us calmly. at your own pace." ellie gently soothed Charlie's cries. "I'm going to go up and check on riley. you stay here with ellie and tell me if anything happens." jay said, getting up and walking out of the door with her fists balled.
jay stormed out of the door, thundering up the steps and up to the sixth floor to the fourth room. she opened the door, it wasnt locked. she looked down at where riley was sitting against the bed frame, just staring off into the distance with the alcohol in her hand. "riley." jay cleared her throat and closed the door, the room darkening.
"if you're here to make me feel bad just go ahead." riley smiled, but it wasnt honest. that was the only thing jay could identify in the situation. riley glanced over to jay. who was standing a few feet away, towering over her.
the dress Riley was wearing was ripped and stained, one strap falling off of her shoulder as she quietly let tears drip down her face. "im sorry." riley admitted and burst into tears, jay sitting down next to her and grabbing ahold of her trembling hand. "i just- i dont want charlie to think im nervous around her, because i always end up bring nervous- and then think that- i dont want to go out with her. WHICH! i do want to go out with her its just- i get so nervous that i can really only function- drunk." riley spilled out, sobbing at each sentence.
"maybe you two just need time apart, you know shes struggling, and in some ways you are too, shes concerned about you. not angry." jay comforted riley, looking at her in the eyes, as mascara trailed down Riley's face. riley swiftly hugged jay, tightly squeezing her. jay returned the hug, letting riley rest on her head.
"charlie will come back when she's ready." jay promised riley. "are you sure..? i feel like i fucked everything up." riley asked, worry lacing her trembling voice. "i promise." jay reassured riley, brushing her fingers through Riley's dull blue hair, which was once vibrant.
-------
charlie rested on Ellie's shoulder, red eyed and tears making her face tighten. "im just concerned, i dont want her to be like- me.." Charlie addressed her worries and ellie brushed her hair back, "i promise, it will be okay." ellie smiled, "want to sleep over here? i think jay is going to stay over at yours for the night." ellie asked, still smiling softly. "okay but- i need my clothes." charlie pointed out. "you can wear some of Jay's clothes, they might be a bit big on you but they'll fit!" ellie quickly suggested the solution.
charlie softly smiled, she was a lot like riley, but Jay wasn't as horrible to ellie as charlie was to riley, so she didnt have to worry.
in all seriousness, Charlie didn't exactly know why she was like this. it was something she couldn't control.but wanted to get rid of.
