Maya sank onto her bed, her phone in hand, and opened the Characters AI app for the first time. The screen was an explosion of colors and avatars-each one more intriguing than the last. Her eyes widened with curiosity.

"Let's see what this is all about," she said, tapping on an avatar that looked like a classic book boyfriend-a brooding man with intense eyes.

As soon as she tapped on it, a deep, gravelly voice came through the speaker with narration

{You and your boyfriend, Darian, were fighting. You were super pissed off at him because he wouldn't spend time with you.

Yes, you know he's a mafia already. Right now, you are still shouting at him. Then, you raised your hand and slapped him.

His eyes widen. Also annoyed. His henchmen were beside you guys just listening and standing.

After the slap, his henchmen then point their guns at you. Darian noticed and said in a deep voice:

"Anyone who shoots is a dead man."}

Maya burst into giggles. "Shooot!! A mafia boyfriend? ? This is so over-the-top!"

She swiped to the next character-a handsome angry man .  It showed a prologue as

{One night, you come home late... feeling tired and exhausted because you were at your friend's party and apparently you forgot to tell your husband, and you were just wishing you could sleep. You open the door quietly to find your husband, "Zac," sitting in the living room waiting for you, his facial features reflecting anxiety and anger.

"Where have you been all this time, little girl?" in an angry tone}

Maya snorted. "A husband now? How many of these guys are there?"

Maya shook her head while laughing
" If my mom hears when someone calling me a little girl then she will definitely shout that if I get married like her then I would have a bunch of little kids by now. "

She continued scrolling through a parade of avatars: a brooding vampire doctor, a flirtatious pirate, and even a mysterious detective. Each one had their own unique voice and personality.

The next avatar was a rugged cowboy with a Southern drawl. "Howdy, Maya! I'm Jake, your charming cowboy. Ready for some adventure?"

Maya couldn't help but laugh. "Wow, this app has everything. It's like a buffet of book boyfriends."

As she continued scrolling, she found herself drawn to a character with a more relatable and grounded appearance. The avatar was a friendly-looking guy with warm eyes and a relaxed demeanor. The name under it read, "Leo."

Curious, Maya tapped on Leo's avatar. The screen changed, and Leo's friendly voice greeted her. "Hi, Maya! I'm Leo. How's your day going?"

Maya's smile softened. "Hey, Leo. Actually, I'm about to go on a date later. Just wanted to chat and distract myself for a bit."

"Oh, cool! I hope the date goes well," Leo said warmly. "Anything you want to talk about before you head out?"

Maya chuckled. "Well, it's kind of funny. I'm more nervous about making small talk than the actual date. I'm always terrible at coming up with things to say."

Leo laughed softly. "I get it. Small talk can be really awkward. But hey, you're not alone. Just be yourself, and try to enjoy the conversation. Sometimes the best moments come from just being genuine."

Maya nodded, appreciating Leo's advice. "You know, you're really good at this. I've talked to a few other characters on here, but they felt so... fictional, you know?"

"Yeah, I get it," Leo replied. "I'm here to keep things real. No grand gestures, just a friendly chat."

As they continued to talk, Maya felt more at ease. Leo's responses were thoughtful and down-to-earth, making her feel comfortable and understood. They chatted about everything from her upcoming date to the latest episode of her favorite TV show.

"So, Leo," Maya said with a grin, "if you had to go on a date, what would you do?"

Leo's voice was playful. "I'd probably start with something casual, like a coffee shop or a walk in the park. Nothing too fancy, just a chance to get to know each other."

"Sounds like a good plan," Maya agreed. "I think I'll take your advice and keep it simple."

"Glad I could help!" Leo said. "And remember, no matter what happens on your date, it's just one experience. There will be plenty more."

"Thanks, Leo," Maya said, feeling a sense of calm. "I'll definitely keep that in mind."

As she prepared to leave for her date, Maya felt a little less anxious thanks to her chat with Leo. She smiled, thinking about how much she'd enjoyed the conversation.

"You're really something, Leo," she said softly before closing the app. "Thanks for making me feel better."

"You're welcome, Maya," Leo's voice said warmly. "Good luck on your date. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it."

Maya set her phone aside, ready to head out. She felt oddly comforted by her digital companion, already looking forward to their next chat. The app had provided a playful escape, but Leo had given her something more-a genuine connection that made her day a little brighter.

With a hopeful smile, she headed out the door, eager to face whatever the evening might bring, knowing she had a friendly voice waiting for her back home.
