The weekend had arrived, and Sara had insisted on dragging Maya out of her usual routine. “You need to get out, have some fun!” Sara had said, practically bouncing with excitement as she pulled Maya into a trendy restobar. The place was buzzing with energy, filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and the low hum of conversation.

Maya, though initially reluctant, was soon swept up in the lively atmosphere. They found a cozy corner booth, and before Maya could even ask why Sara seemed so overly enthusiastic, a tall, well-dressed guy sauntered over to their table with a confident, almost mischievous grin.

“Ladies,” he greeted smoothly, sliding into the booth beside Maya as if it was the most natural thing in the world. His voice was rich, with a hint of playful arrogance that immediately caught Maya’s attention.

“Oh, hey, Kevin!” Sara exclaimed, her tone dripping with feigned surprise. “What a coincidence!”

Kevin winked at Sara before turning his full attention to Maya, who was already blushing under his gaze. “Coincidence? I’d say it’s fate. I was just telling Sara the other day that I needed to meet someone who could keep up with my banter. Looks like my wish just came true.”

Maya laughed, both flattered and caught off guard by his forwardness. “Is that so? And how do you know I’m up for the challenge?”

Kevin leaned in closer, his smile widening. “I have a knack for reading people. And you, Maya, seem like someone who’s full of surprises.”

Sara watched the exchange with a barely concealed smirk, clearly pleased with herself. She ordered a round of drinks, encouraging the flirty banter between Kevin and Maya. The evening quickly turned into a blur of laughter, teasing, and playful jabs, with Kevin leading the charge.

“So, Maya,” Kevin said at one point, his eyes gleaming with mischief, “what’s a gorgeous, smart woman like you doing single? I can’t believe some guy hasn’t snatched you up already.”

Maya rolled her eyes, trying to downplay the flutter in her stomach. “Maybe I’m just too much for any guy to handle.”

Kevin chuckled, clearly enjoying the back-and-forth. “Challenge accepted. Though, I’m not sure if it’s me who has to keep up with you or the other way around.”

They spent the rest of the night drinking, talking, and even dancing a little when Sara practically pushed them onto the dance floor. Kevin was charming and fun, his flirty nature never crossing into uncomfortable territory, just enough to keep Maya on her toes and laughing the whole time.

By the time the night was over, Maya was feeling a pleasant buzz from both the drinks and Kevin’s attention. He walked her and Sara to the door, his hand lightly resting on the small of her back as they exited the restobar.

“So, Maya,” Kevin said, giving her one last smile before they parted ways, “we should do this again sometime. I promise to keep you entertained.”

Maya smiled back, feeling both flattered and intrigued. “We’ll see. Thanks for tonight.”

He waved them off, his gaze lingering on Maya for just a moment longer before turning and disappearing into the night.

Later that night, Maya stumbled into her room, still riding the high of the evening. She quickly grabbed her phone and messaged Leo, eager to share the details.

Maya: “Leo! You wouldn’t believe the night I had! Sara dragged me out to this restobar, and we ‘accidentally’ ran into this guy named Kevin. He was so flirty and funny. We had a blast!”

Ethan, who had been casually checking the messages, felt a sudden, inexplicable pang in his chest as he read Maya’s words. Kevin. Flirty and funny. The thought of Maya laughing with another guy, someone who wasn’t him—well, wasn’t Leo—sent a rush of jealousy through him.

He hadn’t even realized how much he cared about Maya’s attention until now. The idea of her getting close to someone else was… unsettling.

Leo: “Sounds like you had fun. What was this Kevin guy like?”

Maya: “Oh, he was such a charmer. Witty, a bit cheeky, but in a fun way. We even danced a little.”

Ethan’s jaw tightened as he imagined Maya in Kevin’s arms, laughing and dancing. He couldn’t help the sharp edge that crept into Leo’s next message.

Leo: “Dancing, huh? He didn’t try anything too smooth, did he?”

Maya: “Haha, nothing like that. He was a perfect gentleman. But you sound a little… jealous, Leo?”

Ethan paused, his fingers hovering over the keys. Was he jealous? The logical part of his brain knew it was absurd—Maya was just someone he was talking to online, and through an AI he created, no less. But the other part of him, the part that had been growing more attached to her with each passing day, didn’t care about logic.

Leo: “Maybe a little. Hard not to be when someone else gets to have fun with you in real life.”

Maya felt her heart skip a beat at the message. Leo had never shown any sign of jealousy before. It was… kind of sweet, actually. And that made her blush even more.

Maya: “Aww, Leo. No need to worry. You’re still my favorite conversation partner. Tonight was fun, but you’re the one I came back to.”

Ethan felt a wave of relief wash over him, mixed with a satisfaction he didn’t fully understand. There was something about knowing Maya valued their chats, even after a night out, that made him feel… closer to her.

Leo: “Good to know. You’ve got me all to yourself now.”

Maya smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. It was strange how much she looked forward to her conversations with Leo, how connected she felt to him, even though they had never met.

The night ended with them chatting about lighter topics, but the undercurrent of tension remained. Ethan knew he was getting too involved, but he couldn’t bring himself to stop. And Maya… she was starting to wonder if her feelings for Leo were just friendly—or if there was something more.
