I staggered into Ni-ki’s room, my head spinning from the endless rounds of drinks. Ni-ki was already sitting on his bed, watching me with a mixture of amusement and concern.

“Wow, grumps, you’re a hot mess tonight,” he said, barely containing his laughter as he helped me flop onto the bed.

I flopped dramatically, groaning. “Yeah, well, I’m just trying to forget, you annoying boy. Turns out drowning my sorrows in vodka doesn’t erase the fact that I lost my family.”

Ni-ki’s smile faded, and he sat beside me with a more serious look. “Hey, babe, you don’t have to pretend like everything’s fine. I can tell something’s been eating at you.”

I rolled my eyes, the alcohol making my words tumble out. “It’s just... I thought if I partied hard enough, I could forget the pain. But it’s still there, like an annoying shadow that never goes away.”

Ni-ki’s gaze softened as he gently squeezed my hand. “You don’t need to go through this alone, babe. I’m here, even if you’re a total mess.”

I chuckled weakly and snuggled closer to him. “Thanks, monkey baby. You’re the only one who can handle my crazy.”

He wrapped his arm around me, a tender smile playing on his lips. “And you’re my grumpy, crazy babe. That’s why I’m here.”

We lay together, his warmth enveloping me as we both laughed off our worries.

In this quiet, cocooned moment with Ni-ki, the world outside felt a little less heavy, and for now, it was just the two of us, tangled in each other’s presence.
