~~~~~"HE'S THE FATHER!" Taehyung cut in, his voice breaking as he grabbed the doctor's arm. "Jungkook is his father. Please, just do it! It'll match, it has to."
The nurse and doctor exchanged a glance, their initial shock evident in their eyes. The revelation hung in the air between them, the weight of Taehyung's words pressing down on the moment. But the raw urgency in Taehyung's voice allowed no room for hesitation. The nurse quickly nodded, stepping forward to take charge.
"Come with us, Mr. Jeon," she said, her tone brisk as she gestured for Jungkook to follow.
Jungkook stood still, frozen in place as the reality of the situation fully sank in. His eyes were wide, his body unmoving, as if the ground beneath him had suddenly vanished. Taehyung reached out, his hand trembling as it wrapped around Jungkook's bicep, trying to anchor him to the moment.
"Please," he pleaded, his voice trembling as he tugged at Jungkook's arm, trying to pull him back to reality. "P-please hurry, my baby—my baby, he needs you. Please, go, Jungkook..."
His voice cracked, the desperation in it enough to break through Jungkook's daze. The panic in Taehyung's eyes, the way his voice quivered with fear and pleading, snapped Jungkook out of his trance. He blinked, the fog in his mind clearing just enough to understand the gravity of what needed to be done.
Numbly, Jungkook nodded, his body moving on autopilot as he followed the nurse.
Taehyung watched them disappear down the hall, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst. His grip on reality was slipping. He could do nothing but wait, his mind racing with silent prayers, begging for his son to be okay.
Each passing second felt like an eternity, stretching on as if time itself had slowed to a crawl. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the doctor emerged from the operating room. Taehyung's legs moved before his mind registered it, carrying him forward in a rush of desperation. His voice cracked as he spoke, his words tumbling out in a frantic rush. "How's he? How's my baby?"
The doctor's face was calm, a small, reassuring smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Thankfully, the blood matched, and he's out of danger. We'll keep him under observation for 24 hours, then we'll shift him to the ward."
Taehyung's knees nearly gave out as relief flooded through him, his entire body sagging with the weight of it. He inhaled deeply, a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. "Thank you so much, doctor. Thank you..."
His voice trailed off, emotion thickening his throat. The tears he'd been holding back finally spilled over, a mix of relief and gratitude washing over him. "Can I see him? Please, can I—"
The doctor nodded kindly, though his expression remained firm. "Yes, but not right now. The nurse will let you know when you can see him."
Taehyung nodded, swallowing hard. "Okay. Thank you, doctor."
As the doctor turned to leave, he paused, glancing back at Taehyung. "If the father hadn't been here, we would have been in serious trouble. But thankfully, Mr. Jeon was here in time."
The words hit Taehyung like a tidal wave, crashing over him with sudden, overwhelming force. He had been so lost in his panic, so consumed by fear, that he hadn't fully grasped the significance of what he'd said earlier. His mind replayed the moments in the hallway—the desperate plea he'd made to the doctor, the revelation that had slipped out in his hysteria.
"Jungkook is taeguk's father"
Just as the reality of what he'd done began to fully settle in, his phone started ringing, pulling him out of his spiraling thoughts. His hands, still smeared with Taeguk's blood, trembled as he fumbled to pull the phone from his pocket. The sight of his son's blood on his skin made his heart clench.
