It was real, it was happening—Jungkook was alive, and he was right there, just beyond the door.

Taehyung could hardly believe it, his heart racing as he hovered near the entrance, frozen by the weight of the moment. He heard Hoseok's voice break through the fog of his thoughts. "Taehyung? Come inside." Hoseok's tone was gentle, but insistent, coaxing Taehyung forward.

Taehyung squeezed his eyes shut, trying to gather his courage, every breath feeling like a monumental effort. He didn't know if he was ready to face Jungkook, not after everything that had happened, not after the fear of almost losing him for good. He took a deep breath, bracing himself, and slowly pushed the door open. The room felt colder than he remembered, the beeping of the machines echoing in the stillness, grounding him as he stared at the floor, unable to look up.

"Come," Hoseok urged again, his voice patient but firm, guiding Taehyung forward.

Taehyung's steps were hesitant, each one feeling heavier than the last, but he moved, inching closer to the bed until he finally stopped at a distance. He kept his eyes fixed on the floor, his hands clenched at his sides as he tried to muster the courage to lift his gaze. Slowly, Taehyung raised his head, his heart pounding as he met Jungkook's eyes.

In that instant, everything stopped. The world seemed to fall away, leaving just the two of them in the stillness of the hospital room. Taehyung's breath caught in his throat as he looked at Jungkook, alive but pale, his expression unreadable. He wanted to cry, to collapse into Jungkook's arms, but he held back, unsure of what Jungkook would say—or if he would say anything at all. Jungkook's eyes were locked onto his, dark and searching, but there was no smile, no sign of reassurance. Just the quiet, steady rise and fall of his chest.

Taehyung watched as Jungkook's lips parted, as if he were about to speak, but the words never came. Instead, Jungkook's gaze shifted, his focus slipping away from Taehyung's face and lingering somewhere lower. Confused, Taehyung followed Jungkook's line of sight, and his eyes landed on his own hand—specifically, on his finger, and the ring that rested there.

Taehyung's breath hitched, his mouth opening in a silent gasp. He didn't know what to say, the quiet stretching between them. Jungkook's eyes were fixed on the ring, his expression unreadable, and Taehyung could only stand there, paralyzed by the weight of all the unspoken words between them.

Just then, Hoseok's voice broke the silence, drawing Taehyung's attention away. "Taehyung, I need to talk to you."

Taehyung blinked, tearing his gaze away from Jungkook to look at Hoseok, who was standing near the doorway, his expression serious but calm. Taehyung didn't say anything, he just nodded, his movements stiff and uncertain. Hoseok gestured for him to follow, and with one last, lingering glance at Jungkook, Taehyung turned and stepped out of the room, the door closing softly behind him.

In the hallway, Hoseok turned to him, "Taehyung," Hoseok started, his voice gentle yet firm, "I know this is going to be hard for you, but you deserve to know the truth."

Taehyung swallowed hard, bracing himself for whatever was coming. "What is it?" he asked, his voice strained and barely above a whisper, his mind still half-anchored in the room he'd just left.

Hoseok took a deep breath, his gaze steady as he continued, "Yesterday, Park Bogum was also present at the location where Jungkook got shot."

Taehyung frowned, his brows knitting together in confusion. Bogum? He replayed the moments in his mind, the sound of gunshots, the rush of adrenaline, and then the faint echo of a voice—someone shouting his name just as the bullet was fired. "Wait," Taehyung murmured, the realization dawning slowly, "That was Bogum hyung?"
