WRITER'S POV

Autumn.

Mid-October.

The park was quiet, the usual noise of the city muffled by the thick blanket of yellow leaves that covered the ground. A teenage girl walks slowly along the mud road, her heart racing with anticipation. The trees above were nearly bare, their leaves swirling down in a golden shower, creating a path that seemed to lead straight to her lover.

And then she saw him, walking toward her from the opposite end of the road. His coat was dark against the bright colors of the leaves, and his face was lit up with a smile that made her heart flutter. She paused, taking a moment to let the reality of the moment sink in.

He quickened his pace as he approached, his eyes never leaving hers. When they finally met, he reached out and took her hand, pulling her into a close embrace. The mud road beneath them was soft and cool, and the air was filled with the earthy scent of autumn. They stood there, holding each other as the yellow leaves fell around them, turning the world into a golden dream.

They held each other for what felt like forever, letting the emotions of the moment wash over them. The long days and nights spent apart, the countless messages exchanged, and the hours spent dreaming about this very moment—all of it seemed to fade away as they stood together on that quiet mud road, surrounded by the soft rustle of falling leaves.

After a while, they slowly pulled back, still holding hands, reluctant to let go. The girl looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "I can't believe you're really here," she whispered, her voice filled with wonder.

He smiled down at her, squeezing her hand gently. "I'm here," he replied, his voice warm and reassuring. "And I'm not going anywhere."

They both stood still for a moment, just looking into each other's eyes, absorbing the reality of finally being together. Then, a playful glint appeared in the girl's eyes. Without warning, she surged forward and began planting kisses all over his face—on his cheeks, his forehead, his nose, everywhere except his lips.

He laughed, surprised and delighted, as she showered him with kisses. "What are you doing?" he asked, his voice muffled by her gentle attacks.

"Making up for lost time," she replied between kisses, her voice light and joyful. "I've waited so long to do this."

He couldn't help but smile, feeling warmth spread through his chest as she continued her affectionate assault. Finally, she pulled back, her face flushed with happiness, and looked up at him with a grin.

"Feel better?" he teased, still chuckling at her unexpected burst of affection.

"Much better," she answered, her eyes sparkling. "But don't think I'm done yet. I've got plenty more where that came from."

He shook his head, his smile softening as he gazed down at her. "You're something else, you know that?"

"That's why you love me," she quipped, winking playfully.

They started walking together, side by side, their hands still intertwined. The mud road stretched out before them, winding its way through the park, the yellow leaves crunching softly under their feet. The air was cool and crisp, carrying the scent of damp earth and the sweet aroma of fallen leaves.

As they walked, they talked about everything and nothing, the conversation flowing easily between them. They laughed at old jokes, shared stories from their time apart, and talked about their plans for the future. Every now and then, they would pause to admire the beauty of the park—the way the sunlight filtered through the bare branches, casting a golden glow on the ground, or the way the leaves floated gently down, creating a soft, colorful carpet beneath their feet.

After a while, they came to a large tree at the edge of a small clearing. The tree was almost completely bare, its branches reaching out like arms, but a few stubborn leaves still clung to the branches, glowing golden in the late afternoon light. The girl smiled and tugged his hand, leading him over to the tree. They sat down together on the cool ground, leaning against the rough bark of the tree trunk.

For a few moments, they sat in comfortable silence, simply enjoying each other's presence and the peacefulness of the park. The girl rested her head on his shoulder, feeling the warmth of his body against hers, and closed her eyes, letting the quiet sounds of the park—the rustle of leaves, the distant chirping of birds—fill her senses.

He turned his head to look at her, a small smile playing on his lips. "Being here with you... it's everything I've dreamed of," he said, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.

They stayed like that for a while, just enjoying the simple pleasure of being together. Eventually, though, the coolness of the ground began to seep through their clothes, and they decided to get up and explore more of the park. They wandered down winding paths, under archways of trees, and across little bridges that spanned trickling streams, always staying close, their hands never letting go.

As the afternoon turned into evening, they left the park and headed into the city. The streets were bustling with people, the lights from the shops and restaurants casting a warm glow on the cobblestone sidewalks. They found a small, cozy restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner and decided to go in for dinner.

Inside, the restaurant was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and the sound of quiet laughter and conversation filling the air. They sat at a small table by the window, where they could watch the world go by as they ate. The meal was simple but delicious, and they spent the time talking and laughing, savoring each other's company.

After dinner, they wandered through the city, exploring little shops and stopping to admire the beautiful displays in the windows. They shared a warm drink from a small café, the steam rising from the cups and mingling with the cool night air. The city seemed to glow with a soft, golden light, the perfect backdrop for their evening together.

As the night grew later, they found themselves back in the park, the quiet of the night settling around them like a blanket. They walked along the now darkened paths, the sound of their footsteps the only noise in the stillness. The park had emptied out, and it felt as though they were the only two people in the world.

They stopped under the same tree where they had sat earlier, the bare branches silhouetted against the starry sky. The girl turned to him, her heart pounding in her chest as she looked up at him. His eyes met hers, and for a moment, the world seemed to stop.

He leaned in closer, his hand gently cupping her cheek. She closed her eyes, her breath hitching as she felt his warmth so close, her heart beating loudly in her ears. Their faces were just inches apart, the anticipation of the kiss electrifying the air around them.

His hand, still resting on her cheek, suddenly tensed, and before she could process what was happening, he pulled back and slapped her across the face. The sound echoed in the quiet night, sharp and jarring, breaking the spell that had enveloped them.
