WRITER'S POV

Lady Luck has never truly been on Ishita's side throughout her dating life. To be honest, she isn't all that lucky in other aspects of life either. Or maybe it's just that Lady Luck has been chasing after her, but Ishita has always been faster. Unfortunately, we'll never know.

Back to the somewhat depressed girl who is very disappointed in her boyfriend. She is currently scolding him over text, listing all the little things he does that she doesn't like, all the reasons she's mad at him, and all the reasons she no longer trusts him—in excruciating detail. She is even bringing up issues she thought she had gotten over, but it seems she hasn't, never had, and most likely, never will, even in the distant future or after becoming a ghost and coming back.

Her frustration has only deepened because Waris made her talk to his mother. His mother tried to dissuade her from being in a relationship with Waris, which was understandable—after all, she is a mother, worried for her only son. Which mother wouldn't be?

The problem that rankles Ishita the most is that Waris's mom accused her of misusing her phone, which, according to her, Ishita's parents had painstakingly provided so that she could use it for her studies, not for romantic entanglements.

Begrudgingly, Ishita held back from retorting, as she usually does when she thinks someone's argument is wrong, with no discrimination and zero regard for their age or authority.

For Waris, she thought.

Despite all her reluctance, she swallowed her discontent and replied to his mother on the phone with an unenthusiastic "okay."

For him, she soothed her angry heart. She didn't want to, but she did; she tied her tongue so all the angry words wouldn't leave her mouth.

Sometime later, she disconnected the call and took a deep breath, trying desperately not to smash her phone against a nearby wall. It took every ounce of her mental fortitude to keep calm.

But in her moment of anger, she failed to fully register the sounds she was hearing while she was talking to his mother.
